Super delicate wine. Gained with air and after 2 hours had the typical white fruit and nutty aromas of bitter almonds which characterize high class marsanne blends. Slightly waxy. Delicious and ready to go for another decade.

Bright straw and floral on the nose. On the palate some bitter almonds and nutty flavors. All in all very primary and medium-bodied. Delicious, perfectly balanced wine which I'd personally cellar at least three to five more years to enhace the oily and waxy texture of it. 93+

Fifth bottle from a half case purchased on release from the Dutch importer. I must admit, I wasn't really keen on this in its uncommunicative youth, with its baby fat and its oily texture. It is almost five years old now, and the aromatic expression on the nose has improved a lot, and so have the precision and definition on the palate. With its low acidity, I had no idea that it needed time, but it I did, and I am glad that I let it age a bit. Drink now - 2022.

Clear light yellow. Intense apple, baking spice, apple and pear nose. Some richness here but not out of control. Dry orchard fruit and lemon flavours with a very oily texture. The finish is persistent and dry.

With ample oxygen, this turns into a very interesting wine, with impressive aromas of honey, spices, minerals, white flowers, aromatic green herbs, and some ripe citrus fruit in the background. The palate is still unctuous, but it has lost a lot of its baby fat, and a deep minerality is really making its mark on the back palate and on the finish. Very good resonance and persistence. Much better than only six months ago.

Stone fruit, pear, minerals, and melon notes on the full, yet delicate nose. Oily texture, with peach, melon, and citrus flavors on the palate. Nice finish. I really like this wine!

My tasting note from 12 May 2018 is still very much to the point. This is now cruising comfortably on its plateau of maturity and I suggest drinking this now and over the next 2-3 years.

PnP. Metallic greenish yellow. Mellow oily nose, spicy, white fruits, interesting. Harmonious palate, mellow, bitterness that makes up for the low acidity. Long finish. Drink now-onwards.

Deep straw; muted nose, clean, never woke up; plenty on the palate, weighty, substantial, after three hours started to unfurl; hard finish - this needs time but unlikely to ever shine.

The word "wholesome" comes to mind. It is relaxed and pure, slightly mealy, confident and decidedly unshowy, with a deep minerality, floral notes and echos of fruit, low acidity and an oily texture, gentle bitters and a lightly salty finish with a hint of orange, good length. Thoroughly unfashionable. A textural and gastronomic wine - Poularde de Bresse avec asperges, morilles et son sauce vin jaune peut-être? Drink soon.

Club tasting: Northern Rhone. Extremely dry, verging on starchy. Low acidity, nearly flabby. Fairly closed at first but started to open up after sitting open an hour - recommend decanting. Medium-full body and pretty unique with notes of butter, chalk, Marcona almond, parm rind, shell or limestone minerality, coconut, and starch/potato. Tastes well made; our group found it interesting but not lovable. Might improve with additional cellaring and/or decanting.

Bottle at a local restaurant; the nose is lovely with ripe apple, honey, marzipan, jasmine, and ripe peach. The palate is fresh and a bit more taut than the Voge bottles I have tried, but still quite good. Should age nicely for several years.

This is not an obvious wine and you might say (as Rupert does below) that it has relatively little to offer in the way of flavour or aroma, especially taking its considerable concentration and weight into account. Once it has been open for 4-6 hours however, it becomes less monolithic and opens up to increasing complexity. On the nose there is a very deep minerality, with notes of honey and flowers and a sea breeze, while the oily palate displays flavours of chamomile and Provençal herbs. The finish is light but length is very good. Not easy to fathom - and it certainly bears little resemblance to modern white wines.

Pretty consistent with previous note. This may have gained a bit of weight and intensity over time but still beautifully balanced. Lovely wine!

Final bottle. Rich and textural with noticeable bitters. Gastronomic. Honeysuckle, rocks.

Late note, I don't remember the details but I do remember liking it quite a bit. It was aromatic, some weight, lifted by great acidity.
