  • Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Ripe and lush black fruit aromas with a trace of eucalyptus also on nose. Same super-concentrated black fruit on the palate with a moderate degree of structure. While I could see others liking this wine, it's not even close to my style.

  • Very pretty nose shows mint and floral black cherry with nice. milk chocolate.
Nice sweet flavors with tadt edge, het s ooth purity of fruit. Several layers of dark red cruits with. inty edge throughout. Long finish. Mellow with a ripe edge. Impressive complexity. Fruit is soft at peak, dont see it improving from here.

  • WAAOOW - huge and extremely concentrated wine. My Italian guest compared it to very big, deep and ripe Amarone a la Dal Forno. Deep, complex, long and a very good balance between sweetness and acidity. Amazing wine, never taste something like this before. Good I still have a few of them in the cellar!

  • This was drunk a XIX in Philadelphia. The sommelier who is french, prior to decanting the wine came to me to tell me he thought that there was possibly something wrong with the wine. The wine was sound, he just did not have any real experience with this sort of beast. I know that this is a contraversial wine. I did like it. Its a bit all over the place. I can see how some poeple will really love this stuff and I can see where some will hate it. I am somewhere in the middle. It definitiely tastes like a heathcote wine though. One glass was enough for me.

  • Dinner at Fearrington. Decanted 8 hours. This wine was going to have to be pretty great to not be shown up by the '94 ZH Rangen Gewurz SGN. It lived up to our lofty expectations! Almost black in the glass, this wine is a behemoth but harmonious. Concentrated and deep, it presents a wall of ripe, sweet fruit. The wine is still youthful and primary and definitely benefitted from the decanting. Opulent and sensuous with soft, integrated tannins and a silky texture. Full of mint, lavender, tea, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, light black pepper and toasted coconut amongst other things. Needless to say this wine was extremely full bodied with a long, persistent finish. What a treat! 50+14+14+10+10 = 98.
