  • Aged surprisingly well after three decades. Red fruit, cherries still present up front, with finesse, resolving to a musky languid finish. Delicate. Tannins totally integrated, acids well balanced with the fruit. Nose has both floral and earthy notes but subdued. Lighter bodied than I remembered it from my last bottle a decade or so ago. Color bright red with very minor bricking. Cork fine despite age. Really lovely old bottle.

  • Excellent deep color for age. Ripe, slightly overly sweet black fruit. Uncommonly rich and round for an '87; I wonder if this is chaptalized as it has some of that boiled beet character. Very easy wine without Grand Cru cut or clarity, but it tastes good. Some more soil comes through as it sits out, but still not great.
