Still fresh and vibrant mineral/green apple, a touch of cilantro. Crisp and juicy, rather full in mouth for all that acid. Looong finish. Fantastic with petrale sole fillets with lemon butter and capers over brown basmati rice.

This is a great white wine. Grown by a Rhone producer in a climate that is really well suited to this grape. I love this grape and have had few Italian versions that are as good as this. I think the climate in West Paso is really well suited to this grape.

Day One. This is my no fuss comfort wine. Lime tang, grapefruit, quinine, mineral salt and waterfall, and white wine "umami." How could that profile ever be boring? It goes with almost anything and is good at PnP. Had it with Lamb Shanks in a Rosemary mint sauce of all things. 2016 was another good year for Vermentino. The only year better in the last six was the 2015, which has more minerality and overall intensity. 89
If you're listening, TCV, I'd like to see a Vermentino Reserve, to replicate the 2015.
Day Two surprised me with improvement and greater intensity. Year in year out this is now the best easy drinking white wine in California. Much prefer this to Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc, Viognier and Riesling in the $8 to $30 range. Like another Rhone white, Grenache Blanc, this wine is "complete" as a solo varietal. 4+13+18+6 = 91

Still very good, but not as expressive as the first bottle I opened about six months ago. Oddly I missed some of the freshness, but liked it best on the second night! Go figure. The chalky minerality underlying it from sniff to swallow makes for a "serious" Vermentino.

Slate golden lime color. Nose some wax, stone, lime. Lemony crisp palate. Slightest hint of honey. Restrained really nice stone fruit. Clean finish. Really nice, goes well with crab cakes. 91 pts

Outstanding wine! After experimenting across many whites, this one scores in so many good ways... medium body and acidity, appealing flavors, nice finish and just really enjoyable. I need to buy more. Attractive QPR. Should easily last 5-7 years.
Beautiful wine; fresh and finely balanced. Muted nose when cold but as it warms in the glass just ripe stone fruit notes come forward. Similar taste; zesty. Well paired with often overwhelming pesto

As refreshing as a beer after working outside on a hot summer's day. It reaches out to you, slakes your thirst, and says now take it easy and enjoy life. The bright tartness is less grapefruit than usual, more like the freshness of squeezing a lime and peeling a green apple, and hits the spot. 4+12+17+6
TCV Vermentino 2011 to 2016 personal perspective ranked in descending order of preference. All have had good drive and minerality in the first 18 months of release.
2015 Concentrated and intense, perhaps excessively structured for some, mineral driven, 92 2011 Perfectly balanced, tangy, long finish, drank well for several years 91 2013 close to 2011, 90 2012 softer style but still refreshing, 89 2016 similar to 2012, 89 2014 fine on release and first year but lost its tang by end of 2016, 89

This wine has a citrus, sea breeze nose. It feels like a burst of lightly salted citrus with underlying notes of grapefruit. As you drink it, it dances across the tongue with joy and lingers at the end with a bright fresh essence that is a pleasure to savor. This would be excellent with Shellfish and fresh light green vegetables.

PnP. Citrus (lemon & lime), with some floral and mineral notes on the nose. The citrus dominates the palate, with a touch of grapefruit and mineral. More Ligurian -- lean and cutting -- than I expected from CA, but very cleansing, and an excellent match for pasta pesto with shrimp. Should hold for several years.
Interesting comparison with my note from mid-April. Though I didn't note this bottle, both of us who drank it over both nights thought it was noticeably "thinner" than the previous bottle. It was good, a bit leaner and less aromatic, but the noticeable thing was it being "thinner". Seems like bottle variation, since both bottles were purchased from the same place at the same time. I guess the wine could go through some rapid changes so shortly after bottling too. I'm going to pick up a couple more bottles to see if they show the magic of the first one.

No notes, another excellent Vermentino from Tablas Creek that gets everything right. Pretty aromatics, dried flowers, lemon and lime, dust, showing a streak of minerality from the nose through the finish, easy to drink, but with some salinity and acid that helps you pause.

Brilliant light gold; oily. Very fresh fruit in the nose, mint, white flowers, crushed rock. Palate is excellent, with fresh citrus fruit that lasts a good long time on the finish. Good acidity keeps it perfectly balanced--a hallmark of all Tablas wines in my experience. I know it is unusual to rate wine made with this grape much over 90, but this is exceptional. 5-13-17-8: 93/100.
