This has become a very fine drop indeed! Austere some years ago, it evolved into a very balanced wine, very noble, restrained and not at all over cooked or heat suffering. The length is all subtlety, the well integrated wood supports a nice acidity and nice notes of thyme, basil, crushed rocks, tobacco and even mint. Not invasive, just elegant and structured. given some experiences with Fattoi wines from the 80s, this is a potential long distance runner.

A good yet also on the generic side of things and sort of goes away the minute this is drank. Nothing to fault it and a solid 89-90 but not a memorable experience albeit not consumed at ideal conditions.

Brick red color with aromas of red berry, currents hint of cedar. Dry Medium body, high acid and tannin, but the tannins are softening giving a long finish. Flavors of tart red cherry and current

Light red color. Sour cherry, balsamic, orange peel, sweet cherry and menthol on nose - excellent. Palate was similar ex. menthol. Medium+ body, medium+acidity, medium tannins and very long finish. Really enjoyed this - nice old school Brunello. 93-94 range. First I've had from this producer since 2007. Will buy some more.

Unlike the more austere brunello of the same year, the additional time in the wood starts to pay off for Fattoi ‘s riserva 2012. Poise and balance, intensity and elegance in this pure and old school San giovese. Very good and open for business.

Decanted two bottles. Lovely ruby showing a little brick around the rim. Decent fruit with refined tannins taking you to a lingering finish.
