  • The blend on this changes year to year I believe. Young and best enjoyed with an hour+ decant. The aromatics here and very dark and scorched. Roasted plum, dark cocoa dusted dates, cinnamon and licorice. I even picked up some Bordeaux like saddle leather here too. On the palate, it’s got chalky tannin with ripe blue and black fruit, black pepper, and an herbal finish. You think this is going to be a fruit bomb, but it’s nicely restrained with good acidity.

  • Let it breathe! Straight out of the bottle the nose was a little tight, and maybe a little pruney. First taste was somewhat astringent and the wine was a little uncoordinated and seemed manipulated. I wondered what I had tasted at the winery- overestimated the ability of a blend to perform on pop and pour. After some time in the glass, and then the subsequent pours, the character came through. It smoothed out with nice structure, bright fruit backed by tannins, and much less of the astringency on first opening. Will definitely decant or at least be more patient with next bottle.
