Color - Deep dark garnet, much darker than previous vintages and those since then. Nose - Blackberry, Blackcurrants, herbaceous. Palate - Still retaining some tannins, got a bit harsh after first opened, earthy, leather, fruit has begun to dissipate probably on its way down.

More of a peppery Cabernet, but with a plush fruity character. Odd combination in some ways. But I agree with previous notes that this is a relatively easy drinking, enjoyable, and uncomplicated Cabernet.

This is quite different in character than other vintages I remember having; bigger, more muscular and loaded with high-quality, grippy tannins. Not recommended for near-term drinking, as this is young, unevolved and tightly coiled. There is a lot of potential as the fruit is dense yet in balance with the structure. I saved half for the next day, and hopefully it will be a bit more approachable. This will be special with time in the cellar. UPDATE: As expected, much more relaxed on day 2, with the tannins softening up and the velvety cassis fruit and herbs popping up. Gorgeous wine.

Greatly improved after an hr of air.
Quite aromatic, with integrated fruit and secondary features showing. Good length on the finish.

Very pleasant cab; much fuller-bodied than traditional Navarro or other Mendocino cabs I have had; went well with roasted prime rib
