Pale gold color and clear. Aromatic with some age. Aromas of cantelope, French perfume, sugar cane and a touch of must. Dry with a medium-size body. Fresh acidity with medium tannins. Fair balance. Flavorful with cream, lime, slight smoke and toast. Long finish.
Very nice. Very tropical.

Bevan: Similar to my previous notes last year. Dominated by popcorn and vanilla oak. A nice texture and mouthfeel, with yellow citrus, lemon curd, butter, and some glycol filling out the overall profile. Missing some tension, minerality, and energy; a little heavy mid-palate. Definitely an animal that lives in the CA domestic kingdom. Drink now.

As Gary Vee would say..."ahhhhhhh the OAK MONSTER!"...Any character here was obscured by oaky buttery bullshit. Has a bit of a plastic note as well. The alcohol pokes out tremendously, and makes this entirely unpleasant to drink. Blah.

Brasswood - Vintner's Vanguard (Saint Helena): Fairly traditional notes of yellow citrus making up the core fruit; some stone and white fruit flavors on the back end, which kicked out a little bitterness on the finish. Seemed to have the stuffing to be a fairly interesting Chardonnay, but came off somewhat disjointed. Good intensity and drive on the initial attack, but got caddywhompus halfway through.
Hold for another year. 89-90+? points for now.
