In a great spot right now. With some air wonderful perfume in the nose. On the palate dark fruit, slightly herbal, minerals, good acidity, with structure, all in balance.

Wow does this punch above its weight class, approaching Fontolloro/Rancia territory at far less tariff which is most impressive. Aging certainly helps its case, this was solid and full-bodied with tons of dark cherry-berry lucsious fruit complemented by a wave of fennel, sweet tobacco, and dark chocolate on a smooth medium+ finish. Hard to stop pouring with Italian sandwiches and spedini over angel hair. Count me impressed and in for more in coming vintages, bellissimo!!

Fruitiness and hint of chocolate and earthiness on the nose. Full bodied and fruify on the palate with a hint of spiciness. Went well with tamales and a salad. Lovely with dark chocolate. This is not quite as good as the 3012 we had about 10 months ago, but that could also be the pairing. We plan to have it with the same pairing we had last year, spinach tortellini on a bed of spinach, and compare the difference.
9/9/20 - OK, we are now comparing it with the meal we had 18 months ago. Spinach tortellini on a bed of spinach with Alfredo and pesto. It is delicious , and we give it a 96 tonight, so not quite the 99 of 18 months ago, but still very delicious. The 2012 vintage appears to have been a little bit better.

Drink now. Still a lot of red fruit. High acidity and tannin with light to medium body. 80% Sangiovese, 20% Cab Sauv. Definitely not something I would pull out to pair with a hearty steak, but enjoyed with a tomato-based seafood stew— think like cod, scallops, surf clams, etc.

Very good Sangiovese with Cabernet mixed in. The latter really rounds out the wine, adding depth and complexity. Good acidity. Drinks well now with food, but will probably improve over the next 2 or 3 years.

Pnp at a restaurant and just needed a few minutes in the glass to open up. Fairly lush, dark red fruit that benefits from the 20% or so cab in the standard blend of Carmignano wine (the rest being sangiovese). Good balance of acidity (medium), and ample but smooth tannins. Nice value at $19.

Classy Italian Sangiovese on a bit darker side, just like its composition, 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium plus body, dark ruby without purple hue. Right amount of acidity, sweetness, woods, tobacco and coffee. Good with food and on its own. Can be enjoyed by day 2. 89+/100, up to 90/100.

Ripe red fruit on the nose, floral, soft. On the palate quite powerful, lots of concentration, but well balanced, well integrated tannins, very good length. A rather big wine, but well made. 90-92

From half bottle. Nose: pomegranate juice, dark fruits, cedar. Very polished on palate. Reminds of ripe Bordeaux. Would be even greater if it had more personality.

A balanced blend of sangio and cab. Although seemingly young when this bottle was opened it might have some aging potential. Reasonable value for $17 usd.

Quite enjoyable. Red fruit with fine acidity on the palate, but anripeness and plushness from the cab. Nothing not to like other than it doesn’t have a lot of depth.

This aromatic wine presents ripe bing cherry and lingonberry accented with a slight gaminess. The nose is sweetly ripe with bright fruit but the palate is exceptionally dry and demands food.
Edit: As the wine aerated, some of the gaminess left and the wine picked up a bit of plum and rose petal. Some of the dryness also lifted which makes me think this wine could improve with age.

Nice everyday wine. Tannins a little high but good acidity and a Cherry nose (albeit a little thin). Very good for the price.

This is a really hard wine to beat for 20 bucks. The blend of sangiovese and cab sav works out perfectly. Good by itself and with food.
