Jumpin' jiminy, this hawse came galloping out of the stable like a free mustang, ran around the ranch a few times but tired after several laps Promises of blackberry rolled in cinnamon, saddle up when you sit down to enjoy this dude.

Bought this in Napa during an anniversary trip. Brought it home and put it in the cellar for a little over 5 years. One of my best friends died (too young) so I called a few friends to drink this bottle. I poured a little sip and decided to cantor after the initial tasting. Glad we waited another hour as it made a big difference. Is there a difference between cheap wine and expensive wine? Is there a difference between new wine and aged wine? Yes- Will some notice and others not? Yes- What I realized after the funeral is that I was grateful for the company more so than the wine...but it sure was nice to be able to enjoy both

Needed to open up but when it did....whoa. Paired with a ribeye, was a great pairing. The notes on the wine started on the peppery and chocolaty to start with, after about an hour and a half, vanilla, chocalate, blueberries.

Pretty solid wine here but a little overpriced. This was not as big as I remember from previous tastings of earlier vintages. Lots of big fruit but not quite as much on the finish, which is a little shorter than I was expecting. I would put this one in the $150 range instead of the $250 range as I believe there are other Napa wines at the $250 range, such as Hillside Select or Halo, that I would prefer. Decanted for 1 hour and drank over the next hour and a half.

Brief tasting during a walk around of California Wineries, Montreal.
Just a point up from the SLV, a little more chocolate, espresso and the fruit a little purer, you also get the tannins which feel just that little bit smoother. Not sure the difference in price is justified for this vintage, I think the SLV is probably the better value, still very impressed.

The crown jewel of SLWC, it is a great wine with plenty of upside, but would hold for now. They do well at letting this one drink well, but another 7-10 would be best for full potential.

Tasted from Estate Flight at SLWC. Favorite nose lined up next to Fay & SLV. Sweet florals, a little baking sugar and cherry. Showing it’s youth in the palate but also showing the most potential down the road.

Tasted after 2015 Fay. A bit more restrained and darker in terms of fruit profile. Crushed stones, herbs, spices, ripe dark fruit on the nose. Lots of depth on the palate, polished tannins, good acidity. Very long and lingering. 94-95+

U2/U3. Movie night. Drank with a 2005 Glaetzer Godolphin. Wines were indistinguishable to me. Big, Jammy. This one possibly needed more decanting.

Decanted an hour. Fruity, complex, bit of minerality. Classic Stag’s Leap, but wasn’t worth the price.
