Powerful nose of burnt caramel, roasted nuts, and orange rind. Freshly roasted espresso, plum, and black tea notes most notable on the palate. Rich, but with piercing acidity, not cloying at all. Delicious stuff.

Medium brown color. Complex yet youthful aromas of coffee, roasted nuts, caramel and sweet tea. Rich, incredibly intense, complex fruit in the mouth with outstanding depth, profound acidity and a long, lingering, bittersweet finish. Outstanding now but should improve with another 6-12 months of gradual aeration!
Madeira @ Triomphe (New York City): Quite dark in color. Loads of nutskin and Christmas spices. Some rich caramel coming through; atypically richer than the last time I tasted this. Piercing acids, wonderful balance and suberb focus. I could drink this all night.

Madeira @ Plumpjack's (San Francisco): Cloudy, orange-caramel in color, with not much green on the rim. Completely assaults the nose and palate. Great Terrantez bitter nutskin flavors. Seems to be packed with a good deal of dry extract as the wine is quite full. Explosive entry. Superb power with a long, zesty, lime and nutskin finish. Fabulous and memorable.
