Pigeon blood ruby color . Dark fruit on the nose ; chocolate and earthy taste after 1 hour. Tannins softened and fruit perfume came out . Well balanced structure.

Bright crimson color in the glass. Subtle, light floral nose. Still plenty of fruit but the tannins are gone. Still this compared favorably to the 2012 Caymus which needs time.

Deep garnet color. Non-descript nose with a hint of perfume. Jammy fruit on the palate but lighter and less distinctive than I expected. I have had the '93 and '96 recently and thought the '93 was far better.

Cloudy red with deposits. Red berries, coffee, chocolate. Overall very elegant, easy to drink but all lacking a bit of debth and complexity. The wine is IMHO at risk of drying out. Drink now - 2017.

Deep red. Nose of currant but hints of leather and tca? Maybe not a perfect bottle. Powerful and long finish. Dark berries, oak, earthy notes. Drink now - 2025.

A monumental wine, still young, with another decade or two in front of it. Decanted for 6 hours, drank over three days. Just got better and better, last sip was the best. Very complex with layers upon layers of flavors. 1 minute plus finish. Wish I had more.....

This wine completely changed over two hours in the decanter. Started thin, light in color, acidic and cherry dominated. At the end, the wine was dark, balanced, tasted of chocolate covered cherries and tobacco, and medium+ in body. There was a point along the way where I felt that it was borderline extraordinary but that lasted less than ten miutes as it kept evolving toward a more port-like, syrupy nature. It was a great experience but by the end, the wine tasted overextracted and tired.

Very dark cherry to garnet. Still showing a nice core of dark chocolate and stemmy dark fruit, with considerable acidity and tannic backbone, but turning increasingly earthy and boozy. Superb length. Still showing class overall. Drink soon with a lengthy decant, or hold to see if this comes around further with 3-6 years more age.

Great youthful color, tinged with fresh violet. Expressive nose shows wood, cassis, mineral, Indian spice, dandelion flower. Plenty of fresh acidity and tannin. An hour of air really softened the tannins and smoothed the fruit. Turned complex through the finish. Drinkable now, but this easily has 5 more years of improvement ahead. Very nice wine.

Dinner with Friends - Vinci (Chicago): Aromatic nose has rich, chocolaty dark currant fruits. Palate is richly concentrated and shows delicious cassis, vanilla toast, chocolate and herb notes. Well balanced with good length. Modernly styled and tasty. No need to hold as I can't see this improving from its current state.

I had been waiting a while to open this. I fell in love with the 95 V29. Started collecting a lot more bottles of V29 since then and realized I had only had the 95 on multiple occasions. I had big hopes for the 94. Spectacular!!! Amazing nose and perfectly balanced mid palate. A hint of pencil shaving on the aftertaste. This was debated all night as maybe the wine of the night. Other bottles consumed: 1994 Caymus SS, 1991 Montelena (Mag), 1998 Chateau Palmer, 2001 Andrew Geoffrey, 2003 La Tour Blanche, and a 2001 Domaine Serene Evanstad.

Kensington Wine Tasting, Before and During Auction (The Pump Room - Chicago IL): Wine tasting. Black cherry on nose with really good spice, same fruit on palate along with some plum and more intense spices, which really starting emerging after open for over two hours. Still very tight and a bit backward, this needs until 2007 or later.
