Wow, what an amazing bottle. The nose is a sweet eucalyptus - reminds me of silver oak. Body is soft and supple, with leather, black currant, some spice and is still shockingly tannic. Long tobacco finish. Really one hell of a bottle.

Old Wines [1959 - 1982 ] (Vancouver): No Formal Tasting Note This wine was disappointing, the one thing I would say is the mouth feel on this wine was amazing, the texture fantastic, the colour still dark and fresh looking, but in the mouth a touch of fruit then it falls of a cliff, No Finish no nothing after the initial 1sec fruit then drying tannin no fruit no finish
Conc: A Cliff wine

Chateau Batailley Tasting (The Sampler): This has a light delicate nose of rubber muddled in with red fruits. Dry palate with a moderate-light body. It seems the fruit has left this wine and only left flavors of black tea and worn saddle. The tannins are chunky and the acidity is slightly elevated. Still this is very much wine and quite enjoyable. Short finish. I just have to think about how this wines best days are behind it. Drink now. Excellent Quality. 88 pts.

Ah, what a nice wine, well aged, sure nothing exceptional but still enjoyable and very tasty. If you like you can add an aditional point for the experience of drinking an wine like this... After opening a strong smell of leather, wood, forrest. This changed to a nice smell of an aged Bordeaux, no strong fruits anymore, but you wouldn´t expect this from a wine in this price category at that age. Still there, you can drink as it won´t get better, but no need to hurry. We had it to a variation of cheese, which from time to time was too strong for the wine. Open for 1,5 hours, no sign of fading until the bottle was empty.

very top shoulder. cork is wet almost up to the top. upper surface is dry without mold. extraction 'in one piece'. nice brick red with 3mm flare on the rim. nose: prunes, soy sauce, dry marzipan, nutmeg, rose wood. dust, uniper, lactic acid. palate: mid-weight, low acid, but still tannins present. the nose blows me off my feet. palate is a bit watery after 10 Caudalie, so what? few terroirs offer this level of complexity (and sheer enjoyment) after 34 years. why are we drinking wines earlier?

This was absolutely amazing. I expected zilch from this bottle. We opened it, ripe strawberry, cassis, extremely vital, an absolutely fantastic nose. This is what Paulliac is all about!!! Far from gone. Palate was a bit thin, but still good length. An absolute joy!

cork crumbly, a bit phenolic on the nose, but still going strong. a lovely experience with dry aged filet mignon sous vide. Corinnas vintage.
