What an incredible wine. It blew me away on the first nose, I knew this was very special. Such complex aromas, a bit of volatile but not annoying me, with an amazing length... this wine brought me everywhere. Simply amazing. Quite evolved at this point for this particular bottle I would not have waited any longer.

Drank in Paris. Brilliant - so powerful after 30 minutes.
Notes of honeysuckle, peach and pear. Slightly tropical profile. Very rich and coating with the body you expect from Batârd. Finish was everlastingly long - empty glass retained the strength of bouquet after finishing!

Friday Night Ramonet & Rousseau (RPM Steak - Chicago, IL): A just slightly advanced bottle, which is a shame. Enjoyable enough but not what it should be. Trademark Bâtatrd fatness and richness To the fruit. Tasty but lacking the poise and energy of a good bottle.

Friday Night... Great Burgundy Night (Asian Spice House - Buchanan MI): Popped-and-poured. Clearly more stuffing and minerality than the BBM just drank, but not quite as harmonious at first. Everything came together with 20-30 minutes in glass, and more robust fruit kept emerging. Best to cellar another few years, this is a beauty.

Dinner with Richebourg 1998/1999 from both Anne Gros and Hudelot-Noellat (RPM Seafood - Chicago IL): Plenty of stone fruit with tropical hints that remain near the side of restraint. Very impressive Grand Cru density. Rich spice everywhere gives a further sense of opulence, but minerality and acidity are clear and present, keeping this bright enough, and support very impressive length. Very good now through the next decade+.

A ripe and complex nose of peach, honeysuckle and spiced pear. It is rich and layered, with explosive orchard fruit flavours and some mint and cream. Lurking below the flesh is plenty of minerality and it is a big wine but still possesses the usual Ramonet elegance. Length of flavour is superb.

Since we haven’t been out much, we decided when we go out to dinner, we are bringing big guns. This wine did not let us down. Perfect light golden aura, medium bodied with a brace of acidity (medium +) woven in the undercurrent. Silky texture and mouthfeel. We did a side by side with 2015 bonneau de martreau corton charlemagne. The Ramonet had a warm rich tropical profile with aromas of turbinado sugar and crême brûlée with a palate of tropical fruit along with a sleek mineral streak. The CC was a cool customer, mouthwatering with citrus and flinty minerality. Highest recommendation. A wow wine.

Truffles and a couple of bottles: Mineral, spice, orange and apples. Palate is superlative, packed with explosive power and flavour. Thrilling intensity and length. Brilliant wine.

Intense, powerful and generous, with ripe orchard fruits and plenty of spearmint. It is layered and creamy, with explosive fruit flavours. It is an extremely deep and long wine. There is so much material here.

Less exciting than the 2010 and 2014 served alongside. Will have to revisit soon as a standalone bottle.

Grand Cru White Burgundy Fest: Lower acid, but not flabby. Just clearly third place behind the 10/14.

Some Wine Tasted at the Zachys La Paulée Auction; 3/10/2022-3/11/2022 (Le Bernardin Prive - New York NY): Small pour, brief note. Really brilliant, especially in context of the vintage. While fun, ripe, and precocious, this is also powerful, balanced and nearly elegant. Great now with upside.

Ramonet 2015 Horizontal / Rousseau Older CSJ Vertical (RPM Steak - Chicago IL): My third time having this wine, and tonight's was a faint shadow of previous bottles. This might have been slightly tired, but really just completely muted.
