This is a fairly lean and acid driven style, and to my palate says “Tuscany” and “Bordeaux blend” in equal proportion. The fruit profile is definitely not Sangiovese but the medium body, bright acid (M+), and grippy but restrained and balanced tannins are reminiscent of Chianti.
Dark red fruit gives way to a more savory character of leather, rosemary and pine, a hint of smoke/toast, and a perfumed, musky-spicy-floral finish.
This is as good as you could ask for from a $20ish Supertuscan, and very food friendly. I’m a Chianti Classico loyalist but I enjoy the occasional side trip to a wine like this and I’d buy this again in another cool vintage.
Drinking well now but no hurry, it should be good for several years still. 6.7/10

Drank alongside the 2014. This vintage is clearly the better one. First time the 2013 shows a bit of evolution. The fruit is riper and more structured, and this with a lovely balance.

Again a great showing with lots of red fruits with the focus on cherries. As usual offering a beautiful acidity. The spiciness is almost at the level of their Monteti. The long aftertastes is very full. What a great QPR!

55/20/15/5/5 Cabernet/Merlot/Alicane Bouschet/Petit Verdot/Cab Franc. Medium nose shows black cherry, dried roses, fresh forest leaves, mint, black plum, coffee grounds. Palate gives nice layers of dried red and black fruits, mocha or coffee, dried herbs, forest floor, structure frames it well with medium plus tannins, balanced acidity and alcohol. Nice QPR, nice Italian style for a Super Tuscan.

The wine starts with lovely spices in the nose and also shows pepper, gingerbread, green paprika, ripe stewed red fruit, a light toasted note and a subtle touch of rubber. The mouth is dominated by mature red forest fruits. In the middle palette this juicy wine shows a remarkable fruity tinted acidity that gives him a lot of fragrance. The beautiful spices result in a very delicate final with acids that are perfectly balanced and give this wine an excellent aging potential.

My last bottle and still going strong. Very well balanced and a rather light and elegant style for Maremma. This wines drinks too easily... ;)

Spicy and herbal notes on top of simple fruit. Not thick and juicy, but not too thin either. Decency QPR.

Bu en succ.
Gorgé de fruits et d`épices, il a une belle acidité et fraicheur.
La finale est assez longue et rien n`accroche.
Simple mais bien fait.
