Medium ruby and purple in color. Cedar, BO, dry raspberry and floral aroma. Dry raspberry, blueberry, black licorice on the palate with 33-34 sec finish. Quite hot, a bit too high in alcohol for my taste.

A very good $30 bottle of wine. Aromas of dark fruit, cut cedar. Satisfying fruit on the palate, balanced acid and tannins. A little hot on the back of the throat. A little bitter at the end but good value and good with food.

was very flat right at opening. Really opened up after a few hours. Deep purple hue. Nose of sugar, grains, cooked fruit. Lots of bold fruit up front when tasting. Spices, pepper on the finish. Slight vanilla/barrel taste. Astringent after taste. High alcohol, medium low acid. Medium tannins.

Great mouth feel, dark fruits, cocoa, nice nose, chunky tannins, long finish, medium acidity. Only negative is too much alcohol on the finish. Improved after decanting for an hour.

What is it: A kitchen-sink style BDX blend from the Alexander Valley. 67% Cab, 12% Malbec, 12% Petit Verdot, 7% Merlot. I may be a little biased, but I really like the winery because I've been there a few times and enjoy their particular style of restrained-New World.
Nose: Mocha, pencil shavings, graphite, dark chocolate, blackberry, huckleberry, black cherry.
Taste: A shocking amount of acid given how ripe it smelled. Not high by any stretch, but there is enough to balance out the intensity of the wine. Palate is blackberry, blueberry, mocha, cinnamon/vanilla/barrel flavor, and slate.
Takeaway: This is really good. It's ripe and New World, but high enough acid and complex enough to avoid coming off as a Napa-style one dimensional "jam-and-vodka" wine. Not perfect by any stretch, but for $40 I'm very impressed. 4.5/5

One of my favorite Sonoma BDX blends. Have enjoyed multiple vintages. Rich mouthfeel, medium body, medium to long finish.
