Some tropical fruit ester aromas upon opening, along with cola, and baking spices. The tropical fruit esters seem a little jarring on a red. Aerating improved the nose, blowing off the esters, resulting in a subdued nose of red fruit with the tropical fruit evolving into sandalwood notes. Nice savory flavors on the palate, with medium red fruit spiced with garrique and white pepper. Aerating brings out some vanillin oaky character, which complements the slightly underpowered fruit on midpalate. Balance skews a bit too much toward acidity. Solid, but uninspiring. Doubt it will improve with age, as the somewhat thin fruit will most likely diminish and the esters will increase. (While not a flawed bottle per se, it is possible that this particular bottle was problematic, although I detected nothing to promote this conclusion.)

Hard to objectively judge this bottling, drinking it immediately after an ‘09 Cristal! Still showed is pedigree though, just hard to concentrate after said Champagne ingestion.

Decanted >1 hour. On the nose, bing cherry, light red fruit with hints of tobacco, spice and floral notes. In the mouth, nice medium red fruit with a hint of earth, mild tannins and a floral finish. Very nice at this price point.

Plum Market Luxury Tasting (Bad Hunter - Chicago IL): Tasting, brief note. Nicely spiced aromas with ripe black fruit. Much riper flavors, showing the fleshy character of the vintage, but too sweet for my preferences.

60% estate vineyard. Pommard, 115, 777 et al
Appealing smoke and raspberry nose, touch of earth
Lovely texture, bright fruit with a touch of savoury. Long finish of raspberry and cranberry acidity
