  • Flawed bottle.

Bottle turning to vinegar. Not to knock Costco, but I tend to get more corked / oxidized wine from them per-capita.

Last bottle tasted this Summer and it was great.

    Bummer.

  • Consistent with my prior notes - enjoyed this and it got better (and funkier in a CDP way) with air. 92++

Paired well with BBQ pork shoulder.

  • As others have said, fruit forward for a CNDP. Black raspberry and white pepper, with some fig overtone and iron more than stone. Medium finish. Not as complex as other contemporaries , but enjoyable enough. Even after an hour I get a little chemical overtone, so maybe my bottle wasn’t kept varefukky ejough before it got to me. But probably not because the fruit and tannins are both crisp and clear.

  • Dark red, nearly black. Black raspberry, white pepper, iron, fig. On palate, medium body, medium acidity/tannins and long finish. Similar flavor profile to nose. Enjoyed this- not as good as prior tasting but that could have been the food pairing. 91-92+

  • Dark, burnt cherries, earthy and integrated tannins.

  • Has improved substantially from last tasting in 3/2019. Dark red color. On nose, garrigue, dark cherry, sweet raspberry, and stone. Nose tight for first 30 minutes after opening (funny as this is the oppositie of my note from 3/2019 - great nose, tight palate...). On palate, much more open - raspberry, strawberry, glycerin, all-spice. Full body, medium acidity / tannins and long finish. Very enjoyable. 93+/-

Killer QPR and worth seeking out.

  • This wine has a full-bodied structure and a complex nose with a lingering finish. It received spontaneous calls for more as it was well liked by my guests.

  • A nice fruit-forward Chateauneuf but it lacks the complexity of a lot of the major vineyards. True that it costs a half of what the major producers charge, but it also delivers half of the flavor. Even at this low price I will not buy it again. There are wines at this price range, like Alto Moncayo that run circles around this wine.

  • Note from night 1 - will re-sample tomorrow night as I think this needed a long decant which it did not get.

Dark black/red color. Raspberry, black cherry, glycerin & floral nose. Similar flavor profile on palate with medium body/acids and sweet tannins with a long finish. Great balance - given nose I was expected massive fruit on the palate but this was a great food wine. 91+ tonight.

  • Kept sipping this opened wine over a 5 day period to see whether it would improve, which it did. Opaque with an inch pour, but remained dark red, short of being black, and did have a noticeably lighter band around the edge. Red raspberry and violets are the chief aromas. The sip shows upfront and easy drinking medium acidity and tannin without being sour or astringent. Overall, lacks the concentration and richness to merit a 95 point score or to be a long hauler, but is well worth enjoying through the next 5 years.

  • Our first 2016 CdP - and it's clear to me that this is a special vintage. The 2016 Lesec Galets Blonds, albeit very young, presented vivid and sweet red fruit - lots of raspberry - and there was subtle spice and structure in the background. The wine continued to evolve across 3 hours in the decanter, and certainly needs that much air or more if drinking this early. Patrick Lesec delivers another QPR value in this tasty cuvee, reminiscent of the enjoyable 2007.
