Has that typical raveneau nose. Still fresh and not going anywhere. I find the Raveneau style to be very nice but ultimately overpowering both vintage and terroir.

Very clean palate, round, gentle pear fruit with a hint of wool and a hint of old oak. This is round and smooth, rather quiet, not much cut, the acidity not especially prominent. Overall, clearly at peak and harmonious, if not especially exciting. With R before the Drunken Monkey.
Update: a pour remained in the glass overnight, completely exposed to air. Twelve hours later, the following morning, there was no oxidation nor degradation, the palate now showing brisk acidity and good energy, much more lively than the prior evening, with a nice amount of yellow fruit on the palate and a very long finish. Suggests to me that this wine would have benefited from a good decant.

Very reserved..needs a good hour to start opening up. Textbook high-class Chablis. Flawless, yet unexciting.

enjoyable and definitely terroir specific, but also rather advanced and caramel-ly, lacking freshness.

Raveneau Monts Mains: Much paler than the '98. Not much nose here. Light bodied, crisp but lacking concentration, focus, and interest.
