  • Smoky, sappy nose with some peat and moss and plenty of earthy nuance. Good density in the mouth, perhaps a little blocky but plenty liqueur cherry of flavour. It finishes with a touch of tea leaf astringency. A substantial wine for the vintage and a pretty tasty drink.

  • I reckon this has improved further since my last bott some 18 months ago and it was good then. On the nose there are truffles, compost and sweet cedar. In the mouth it is lacy of texture with brown sugar sweetness and plenty of floral nuances. There is good depth of flavour, it is fresh and energetic and a strap of liquorice weaves through the palate with further air. Based on this bottles performance I think the wine may indeed hold or even improve with further bottle age. I am continually surprised at how well many 92’s are drinking today.

  • opened immediately with a beautiful fragrant and floral display. elegant, vibrant and clean with raspberries and cherries and a tinge of mushrooms and forest wood. good 20 second finish and a fresh acidic completeness to it. drank at Marea and complimented the seafood perfectly. this wine went beyond a village level.

  • The 1992 Comte de Vogue Chambolle-Musigny may not be at the top of every Burg drinkers ‘must try’ list but perhaps it should be (and the 1992 Roumier Chambolle for that matter) to show just how well a humble Burg from a maligned vintage can drink once its had sufficient age. This was utterly delicious showing true tertiary aromas of decaying leaf, moss and compost. In the mouth it was gentle vinous and lacy with nice presence and terrific mouth aroma. It’s not particularly dense, deep or long but with elegant food it is truly magnificent.

  • Little post lunch tipple. Good for a village, especially good for a village from 1992 - but this is Vogüé after all, and the property had started recovering its past glories right about the early nineties. Clear nose, very good sense of terroir, with fresh cut flowers, mushrooms, dried wood and earth. There was just a little sharp alcoholic tang in there. The palate was still super clean, young and primary, showing fresh, sour cherries which took on a sweet sappiness with time. There is quite a lot more waiting to unfold. There was also a wash of heat at the finish, but this died down after ahwile to show a wine that was really elegant, clean and lithe. The finish was nice and long, with a little sharp bite acid of and some hard woody tannins. Nice little linger of wood spice, sappy, orange peel, little berries and stewed tea though. A nice wine, if just a little stern and lacking charm for a Chambolle.
