  • I was ready to not like this. Chapoutier, mid-tier cuvée, etc. Damn, this is pretty interesting! The nose is where it happens: you've got dark berries, plums, violets, hint of rosebuds, red meat (no smokiness) and dried herbs. Heady perfume. The palate show its youth: tight but with a pretty decent core. Strong and assertive tannins, enough fruit, nice acidic streak with mineral finish. The élevage is not too strong even at this young age. This is really tight but i'd love to revisit this in another 10 years. Color me surprised.

  • White pepper, hot stone minerals, blackberry, black olives and dried herb aromas. Silky smooth and elegant. Light and agile yet it packs a punch. Big finish with a green olive, sea salt and dark red fruits. Pinpoint balance. A consistently good entry level Hermitage from a premium winery. Better in a few years. Drink 2024-2035.

  • Good nose, red fruits. 85% aged in oak, 15% in concrete vats. Great acidity, raspberries, cherries, smoke, some forest floor, mouth-coating tannins. Still young, but excellent.

  • Served by the glass. Balsamic and clearly marked by leather and black truffle notes. All in a smoky and earthy wrapper. Still young and lacking integration but delicious and very long. Twenty years laying down will only benefit this second-row Hermitage.
