  • Fabulous Savigny. This easily competes with more famous appellations. Not yet ready, and probably 5 years away from prime time. Muted at first, but it opens up with air. Aromas of strawberry, raspberry, cassis, roses, diffuse citrus, mint, pine forest, roasted meat and delectable fungi. The rose note goes in and out, sometimes subtle, sometimes bursting, it is an intoxicating and gripping element. Fresh and vibrant on the palate, with zippy acidity, filigree tannins and diverse earth, flower and spice notes. The finish is superb, mostly focused on herbs and gorgeous crunchy red berries, but also showing hints of orange sherbet, cassis, game, flowers and spice. Distinctly mineral and saline, with assertive acidity, this will really shine with food; we had it with chicken and maitake, and it was heavenly. Should have waited, but the purity and intensity here is simply lovely, and easy to appreciate. It was lots of fun today, not a waste. Fine to drink now, but surely better to wait. It should croon for another few decades.

  • Medium Ruby color. Medium + intensity. Fresh red fruits - cherries, raspberries. Well integrated oak. Just a hint of forest floor. Noticeable aromas of rose. Tannins not yet resolved with medium finish. Overall good energy and freshness coming from the whole cluster and while approachable now better to revisit in 5 years. Double decanted 4 hours.

  • First Bize wine. Dried leaves, roses and red fruit on the nose. In the mouth, crunchy red fruit- cranberries, strawberry, cherry- and great lime stone acidity. Very good energetic wine. I love this stuff.

  • Nose of old leather, barnyard, dry leaves, and old oak. Palate has a mouth-filling perfume of rose, lavender, and thyme, sweet strawberry, and savoury earth. Finish is long and mildly astringent.
