Decanted for 2 hours. A nice bottle, and leaving at 91, but have to say, I was a little disappointed. Probably more a mental situation then anything. Just hoping for a bit more from my last bottle? No worries though, their “replacement” is the 2015 Winemaker Series CS and it’s absolutely outstanding. I’ve bought a case over the last few months.

Leaving it at 91 Points, but it just continues to get better & better. THIS bottle definitely has much more “Aged Cab” characteristics to it, not sure how much longer I’ll hold on to my final bottle though. I will definitely have it with a big grilled steak though (tonight is a big & savory grilled chicken breasts). Have to say, I may shed a tear when I open that lady one. It was an excellent CS from these guys. But I’ve always love their Core CS, as well as their Single Vineyard stuff.

Not a whole lot to add, but this just keeps getting better and better. Delicious and is very smooth, but still very big, deep and powerful. Decanted for about an hour.

Wow. This bottle was excellent. This was much smoother, more balanced and just excellent. And it was had without any decant.
Enjoyed this at King’s with a filet mignon, baked potato and crispy brussel spouts. I normally have their (excellent) burger, but this was so rich, powerful, smooth and balanced, I had to change up what I enjoyed with it.
I may have to check with SG and see if they have any more if this. Doubtful, but worth the check.

This is drinking really nicely right now. I’m down to just a few 2013 (which are still really nice too!). I tried this 2014 because I’m thinking about getting some more from SGW and wanted to see how it was going. These Historic Vine Cabernets were a Three-Year Series (2012-2014) from SGW that will never be seen again as they tore these CS grapes out and replanted it a few years ago. While I thought the 2012 we’re good, I think the 2013 and 2014 are both better.

ought from the winery. I drank this by accident, thinking it was the '11. This was beautiful, really sumptuous and satisfying, hitting all the notes, more approachable than expected for a '14 too. I decanted about an hour before trying it. One to look out for.

Another fine bottle, but I should read my own notes before I randomly open a wine. I have ‘13 vintages of this, and in my last ‘14 note, I actually said I should drink the other 13s first and give the 14s a bit more time. Regardless, this is a very fine bottle and mirrored the last ‘14 notes with just a bit more cherry to the mix.
Decanting the rest and will update if there’s significant changes...

A bit closed on open with some heat. Give this 45 minutes. Full bodied, but not super rich or jammy. Notes of chocolate, cassis, cherry, tobacco, pepper and some sweet spice. Has some nice lift for a variety of foods. Not the most complex wine in their lineup, but still very yummy after some air. R90, N89.

This was really good. Didn’t have a chance to decant, which I think would’ve made it even better. Nice dark color with a nice aroma. Taste was nice, with dark fruit, but not overly, and nice smooth tannins with a nice finish. Overall a nice balance. I need to leave these and go back to the ‘13. With the additional year in the ‘13s, that’s what I should be drinking first. That will also give the ‘14 time to get more time as well.

My first 2014 Historic Vines and I forget to put any notes in?!?!? I remember it was pretty damn nice and thinking it was closer to the ‘13 than the ‘12 (which is a good thing in my mind). It was also nice enough that I went back to Sequoia Grove and bought another half case. If it wasn’t any good, I wouldn’t have done that! LOL

Another excellent bottle of a vintage that is drinking excellently right now. Very similar to last two reviews.
