  • Opened 95, 00, 05 and 10 for a party. Let breath 3 hours. My prior taste of the 05 left me unimpressed, thought the 05 was flat and flabby. This was a much better bottle; best of the flight. Well balanced, black fruit, smoke and forest floor aromas, silky and deeply textured on the palate.

  • Decanted for about an hour. Spicy oak smoke and cherries. One of the best pinots I've tasted in a long time.

  • Drinking very well now. Medium red color with minimal pinot funk on nose. Restrained fruit, modest body, nice acidity. Really quite well balance and quite pleasurable after 30 minute air time. Good stuff.

  • Opened for a woot tasting. Went over very well. Considered "just what you want an Oregon Pinot Noir to be." Decanted for 90-120 minutes before we drank it.

  • Just signed up for a major Shea dinner in VA so thought I would pop this to celebrate. Notes from day 2, showing much better today and that is good because i was afraid it was in a shut down phase yesterday. Dark ruby color and medium bodied. Major funk on the nose that reminds me of fall and decomposing leaf layers but gives way to wild cherry vannilla notes that are quite nice with a little austere smell. On the palate blackberries, tart wild cherries, with some cedar, a few soft tannins, and a little acidity on the end. The tannins and acidity lead me to think this is another couple of years from being in its prime. Too bad I didn't have any better cellar protectors in the pinot department. Still a very solid effort, the fruit is a little subdued for me in it though.

  • Very good but still very young pinot from the premier pinot terroir in Oregon, Willamette Valley. Enjoyed w Kim at Pearl restaurant at the MGM Grand in Vegas and paired well with the high end Chinese food selections. Dark ruby color with reasonable mouthfeel and decent aftertaste. Very floral nose with hints of cedar, cherry and some vanilla. Primary flavors consisted of cedar, cherries, blackberry with good structure and still very prominent tannins. This will improve with age and would expect a rating of at least 2-3 points higher with cellar age and maturation.

  • Thanksgiving tasting at the Panther Creek tasting room. Tasted from the barrel. Obviously still young - but good ruby color. Sweet strawberry and cherry nose. Light to medium bodied. Strong red fruit and candied cherry palate. Lacks complexity - but that will hopefully come with a little more time in the barrel.
