  • Delicious palate of lemon, almonds, and light salinity. Great as an aperitif, pairing, or digestif. Overall just a great savory white

  • From 75cl, perfect cork, opened but not decanted 1 hour, did not develop in glass. Elegant muscat grape and ruby grapefruit scent; full-bodied, plush, soft entry; while the mid-palate does show some of the acidity mentioned in CT TNs below, it is alas smothered by soft, sweet stone fruit (apricot?); the lack of textural verve persists onto the flaccid finish. I bought a stash of this on a whim after an outstanding experience with a bottle of the 2013 vintage in 2021, and frankly now regret doing so. But perhaps the 2017 will lose its puppy fat and become similarly thrilling by 2025. I'm not confident it will, so for now the best I can offer this evening is 89P

  • Best bottle of this in a case that has been quite variable. Cut grass, pomelo, lemon and a little toast. Medium to full bodied.

  • Not my usual fare as not a fan of Sav Blanc, but this blend worked.

    Pale gold in color.
Faint nose. Some grapefruit peel and lemon zest.
Bright acidity, racy, tastes Iike the nose. Medium finish. Super light and nuanced wine. Not my wheelhouse but I do appreciate that this is a well made wine.

    DON'T drink this too cold.

    Salmon dinner by Britt.

  • After ten minutes of air this is lovely. Crisp cut grass, pomelo, a little biscuit come through. This has a nice cut of acidity and good balance. Drinking perfectly right now.

  • This was a surprise hit for me. I very rarely drink sauv blanc, especially bdx blanc. Nose of grapefruit, lime, hint of apricot. Palate shows a hint of honey. It does lean fairly grassy / grapefruit heavy but with crispy acid, it's really enjoyable.

  • Good times in Seattle (The Butcher's Table, Seattle WA): Nose: The Nose is open and giving immeaditely and is unmistakably Sauvignon Blanc in all of the good ways with grassy tones, peaches, lemon peels, crushed rocks, white flowers, lanolin, and gooseberry notes. This is picture perfect in many ways while having just a bit of gravitas.

Tasye: The feel is Medium bodied with racy, high acidity. The feel is lovely with the acidity showing itself, but not being overbearing. The tones are fresh and lively with peaches, lemon peels, White flowers, gooseberries, grassy tones, and crushed rocks.

Overall: This was a real pleasant surprise and a wine that I don’t have all that often. This is a lovely expression of Sauvignon Blanc and one that offers up a great and different take.

  • Clos Vougeot (Grands-Echezeaux / Southwest-side) Tasting (Hughes House - Chicago IL): Tasted double blind, so clearly Sauv Blanc-driven with a grassy extreme and so much grapefruit that I found this tart and marginally enjoyable, despite its very clear heft. Others enjoyed this more.

  • The key word is balance!
On nose: an intriguing funk of botrytis.
On palate: the botrytis is present , but clearly takes a back seat to the bright acidity , oil of grapefruit , spicy notes of tiger lily ,coriander, and as it warms up after it's 1 hour decant , further notes of dried apricot and quince preserve....this wine manages that neat trick of weaving present oak, acidity and richness into a sleek medium bodied wine....capable of aging easily for another decade....but approachable now.
41% Semillon , 40 % Sauvignon Blanc and 19% Muscadelle ....a great match with Salmon Wellington and roast potatoes.....the first wine sampled from the 2020 Bordeaux release in Vancouver.

  • After the abortive attempt to review that last bottle of White Bordeaux, I went out and bought another bottle by a different producer and...nearly fell into the same trap! Once I started sipping I couldn't stop! Absolutely delicious! I made a point of saving the last glass and taking the time to review it.

Best served chilled, I refrigerated this and took it out just long enough for it to warm up a smidge. And the result was fantastic: a truly incredible wine! Medium yellow in color, it's moderately aromatic with a nose that greets you with banana, red apple and shale notes. Upon sipping you're met with a high acidity courtesy of the sauvignon blanc, which lends the wine quite a bit of crispness. This is however rounded out by the supple, full-bodied semillion which allows it to preserve a certain heft despite the crispness. Definitely getting mineral notes along with honey and tropical fruits. Pineapple, mango, guava and passion fruit all mix together in a lovely menagerie with a fairly crisp finish full of lemon that leaves you fresh and begging for another sip.

I could see this going very well with a buttery, creamy dish. I had this with some herb encrusted pork instead, and it was great! It created an intriguing interplay of fats vs. acids on the tongue. A wonderful pairing!

My wife, on the other hand, thought it tasted like "over-pickled lemons that someone forgot about for three weeks". Oh well. To each her own?

  • Very young but tasty French White Bordeaux. Citrus, lemon, minerals. Paired really well with pork tenderloin.

  • Vanilla, citrus, lime and green apple create a fresh, bright, citrus-filled package. Vibrant pomelo sticks with you through the refreshing finish.
