There is a certain elegance to this structurely. Not too extracted. Lots of oak however, plus some development in bottle is quite spicy and leathery. More red than black fruit. Very cherry!
Nice plush Barossa Shiraz. Surely will age for a while still but drinking nicely now

Appearance: deep ruby. Nose: medium plus intensity; aromas of chocolate, blueberry, red roses, dark cherry, prune, dark plum, toast. It’s developing. Palate: dry, high acidity, high chalky tannins, high alcohol, medium plus body, medium plus flavour intensity. Coffee and plum come through. The finish is medium plus. Overall, it’s a very good wine. Can drink now, has potential for further ageing. A typical SA Shiraz with structural tannins. A lot of blue and black fruits with ripe tannins. Decent flavour intensity and finish. Not very exciting but good with food.

After sorting by region and variety, I was recently embarrassed to learn that “Barossa Shiraz” makes up only 11% of my cellar.
Leaving aside top-shelf Champagne, Barossa Shiraz is my favourite style of wine because it is old fashioned, high quality, and a crowd pleaser at any dinner party … just like me. So I’ll be applying myself to the task of bolstering the cellar with far more of it for the rest of 2019.
This wine is a good start. Perfect with a winter meal on a Tuesday night with your better half and good enough for a Saturday too. It is a warm, round and substantial glass of red. The fruit is dialled up as is the oak so they balance out well. It is simple and moreish.
Enjoyable now for its richness and certain to live on and develop more savoury bottle aged characteristics if that’s your thing. I’ll take it either way.
Very good wine and excellent value. 18 bottles in my cellar will need to at least double.

Oak/alcohol/yeast on the nose A medium bodied wine of dark colour. medium tannin light fruit a fair amount of grip with a medium finish Nothing stands out with this wine, still, it might need a year or two to soften out , however I would keep a check on that alcohol . Will taste again in six months
