Out of magnum and singing! This "off vintage" surprised everyone. Powerful yet elegant and floral nose, a la iron fist in a velvet glove. On the palate, lots of energy and good complextiy from stone fruits and acidity. The first 30 mins were Fantastic though it started to fade quite rapidly as we hit the hour mark. All in, a thoroughly enjoyable and wonderful btl of juice for the vintage.

Epic tasting across 5 decades 1974 Dirty delicate, floral subtle Stemy, a little green but layered and delicious, 94pts 1982 hawthorn a little watered down preferred the 74, 92pts 1992 Closed initially and with time in the glass started to open up but just too green and unbalanced to be appreciated at this juncture, 92pts 1996 a little Green, good structure. Really not ready but has more potential and could be good in a few years, 93pts 2001 a little oxidized, not scored 2004 best nose with ephemeral flora aromatics, delicate and layered, simply gorgeous 95pts 2006 slightly more muted nose than the 2004, but I preferred the palate more than the 04 with just a little bit more complexity. 95pts 2014 this was my WOTN shows how far modern winemaking has come and is the value wine of the night. Layered structured and simply magnificent. 96pts

LaTâche Lunch with a Ramonet Starter (Binkley's - Phoenix AZ): Bottle with good color and fill. Popped, decanted and poured. Baking spice with charmingly mature red fruit and cooked shiitake mushrooms. Great (94 point?) aromas are followed by mediocre, tired flavors (85 points?) to start. Everything started to shorten and lose steam after 20 minutes in glass. What a treat.

Amazing!! Mindblowing wine defying its 42 year age. So much fruit left (cherries and plums) with acid and structure to support. Hedonism and profundity battling for supremacy, with mushroom umami secondary notes peeking through. A touch of white pepper on the finish. A wine that you want to slow down and think about, but is so delicious that it becomes a struggle. Drank over hour and a half without decant...not going anywhere. Solid as a rock!! 1st La Tache and considering this is a terrible vintage in Burgundy, it becomes hard to imagine how good one would be from a stronger year.

Light brown-red colour which deepened with air. Sois bois which blows off. Lots of pu er tea. Rose petals. Spices. Light red fruit. All in balance. Beautiful. Gentle. Lovely. Goosebumps. A beautiful and aristocratic wine. On palate, light red fruit. blue fruit. little bit of gentle tea tannin. Bit of cola. Moreish. All in balance. What Burg should aim to be.

Magnum bottle sourced from a Tokyo restaurant. Bottle in very good (not excellent or perfect) condition. Classic LT nose, classic DRC first mouth. The image that developed in my mind as I was drinking the wine was that of an old, fragile grandma (not grandpa), who was happy to have lived a great life, and lovely stories to tell, but at the same time was ready to move on. I had a lot of pleasure drinking this wine.

Great Vosne Dinner with Friends (Charlie Trotter's - Chicago IL): Showing plenty of age in color, with plenty of bricking. Aromas show fair amount of remaining red fruit, but more fresh mushroom and Asian five spice mix. Same spice quite plentiful on the palate with mostly secondary character and some primary red fruit in the background. Impressive for its age and vintage.

Vosne Romanee Holiday Dinner (Charlie Trotter's, Chicago IL): Brownish red color. Aromas of red berries, damp leaves/ earth, and iodine. Soy notes and dry baking spice as well. Medium bodied palate with mostly dried fruits. Lovely clove notes throughout the moderate finish. Pretty wine.

Pale red brick orange. Sour spicy red fruit and acid on the nose. Forward flavors of cherry cough syrup (menthol?). Juicy with a nice long finish. 2/05

Light brown appearance. Great scents of cherries, dark fruits, and dried leaves. Superbly dense and attractive with laser sharp nuances, an open and delightful expression of terroir with marvellous density, and intensity of fruit. Excellent concentration, great structure and wonderfully elegant with a long, balanced and smooth aftertaste. Perfect for drinking now but with plenty of material for a few more years in the cellar.

Holiday Burgundy Lunch - Rousseau, Leroy, DRC, Ramonet, d'Auvenay (Scottsdale, Arizona USA): Served blind. Very brown red, showings its age. Pretty spice aroma. Cloudy. Really nice wine, elegant and soft if somewhat faded.

Seductive nose, bricking indicative of its age, this is a tired wine but still pretty.
