  • Very nice cab with fruit intensity and balanced tannins. Not overly oaked, highish acidity, could probably be held some years more but drinking handsomely now. Very good qpr. 90-91p

  • Recommended by our server at a Western Cape steak house. No decant, not needed. Dark ruby color; ample fragrance of red fruit, redcurrant; mature fruit with hint of new leather, very good mouthfeel. More than delicious with a kudu steak and a T-bone! Another remarkable find in our growing experience with local restaurants--454 Rand (about $32 US) from a "feature" list (likely about double lowest retail--if you can find it) in a restaurant that charges no corkage (seems to be local practice). My evaluation: I've stopped giving scores on a "100-point scale" as I've become less convinced that they can be meaningful to others. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. I considered this outstanding- when considering quality, age, and restaurant price.
