At or near its apogee, this is the quintessential expression of Perrot Minot red Burgundy. Wonderful extraction, no Burgundian barnyard, just pure French pinot fruit. Dark and red cherry core, combined with leather, oak and Asian spice notes, this wine is hauntingly delicious. This is the style of red Burgundy that I just love.

Beautiful mature delicate 1er Cru Burgundy. Nose explodes with floral mixture of lavender and roses. Smooth mouth feel. Taste is very soft with red cherry and slight tannin that increases with time on the palate. Delightful long fresh fruit finish.

full, fleshy, dark colored. medium deep. light tannin on the palate. a bit longer than medium length and has relatively good density on the palate, but lacks sutlety and complexity. the fruit a predominant now, lacks minerality and in my opinion delineation. a bit more warm climate in this expression. could've used more liveliness and fragrance. probably much better after another 5 to 10 years of evolvement in my opinion to get psat the fruitiness right now. consistent taste over the course of 2 hours in glass.

An Interesting Array of Young Nuits St. Georges ([Mostly at] The Wine Club, San Francisco): Deep center, tawny edges. Sexy nose with some caramel. Medium to full bodied. Sweet impression of deep red fruit and excellent length, but this is very, very oaky. In the end, the wood ruined it for me although there is impressive material underneath. I have had mostly bad fortune with this producer in this regard.

Bistro Elan Cyn -- Big juicy flamboyant nose, still not convinced about the mouthfeel and balance. The heavy handedness of extraction and oak seemed to add a more bitter note this time, but lots of juicy goodness is there too. Hmmmm...

The French review below is being pretty harsh, but he (or she) does have some valid points--and this must have softened in 2 years. For the pedigree of this, I'd expect a bit more mind-blowing complex layers. To me, the midpalate is where I have issues here. The nose is absolutely gorgeous, with crushed minerals, graphite, black and red licorice, and violet. It hits the palate with plum/grape silk, then gets a touch acidic and tight in the midpalate. The finish echoes a wonderful black truffle shitake pasta paired with it for dinner tonight, a mellow and lingering melange of tastes. Minus the tight midpalate this is a 95+ point wine in my book...
