Opened way too young. Still reticent. An impulse open (this was a bottle purchased together with a friend—he was in town and we made a poor decision to open). Floral and fruity nose. Plum fruit roll ups and tobacco on the palate. Nice acidity but not the usual profile of a GDP. Luckily we have more!!!!

Undoubtedly a well made, exciting wine that is full of amazing potential. However, at this moment it doesn't quite live up to expectations - slightly disjointed and in hindsight too young. Next bottle won't be seeing the light of day for another 5+ years

Decanted for 2h. Wow, right from the start there is that farmyardy, complex Leroy/Soldera/Chave nose. Dark fruit, wet earth, game, musk. Very fresh and precise palate, says elegant and racy like all 2016. Will be fantastic after 2030. 96+

Took many many hours in the decanter to open. Perfume is indeed very beautiful, so focused and concentrated, almost explosive. Minty, meaty, and herbal, not unlike Cote Rotie. On the palate the tannin is still rough, and will require a lot more cellaring. 94+ for the nose, 92 today.
Park90 with WT & FL!: Another producer that I had to introduce the group to tonight. Black fruits, barnyard, leather, spices, dried flowers. Rounded and succulent. Soft tannins. Really enjoyed this tonight! Open up and good for many years ahead.

super nice... random that I was ever intro'd to this wine, but have loved it across vintages from 2004 to 2016 (so far)... this was decanted at 330pm, started drinking at about 5pm... last glass at 730pm... not surprising that the last glass was the best... deep red fruit with plenty of acidity and nice linearity... able to show the depth / full body of the cab and Syrah, but with real lift and energy... lovely, and I suspect this is a newborn and will be even better in 5-15 years

First experience with this wine and felt it was crazy good, we grill some lamb chops with harissa and this paired perfectly, spices dark fruit, slightly stewed but so subtle, memorable palate lots of fruit but with abundant freshness balance is impeccable and a really long finish
