2014 Undurraga Altazor Maipo Valley was complex, intense and balanced.
The Cabernet Sauvignon dominant blend was clear deep ruby without any signs of age. On the nose, it revealed complex layers of licorice, ripe blackberries and dark cherries, followed by coffee and minty eucalyptus. The aromatics were quite pronounced.
It was extremely intense on the palate with great balance of oak and fruit. The wine was full-bodied, packed with structured and ripe tannin and medium in acidity, leaving an impressively long ceder and dark cherry finish. Additional 5 years of cellaring would allow the components to melt together. (92)
