No notes as taken to club wine function Definitely serious stuff here - ripe bright cherry with herbal/ floral secondaries and touch of oak spice Full bright palate and great acidity Will keep for another 5-10 yrs easily

Started off globby, slightly oak laden, and flat. Needed some air for about 45 minutes for the red fruits to emerge and the structure to stabilize. A very serious and powerful Barbera, still in development. Drink now or cellar through 2029+.

Opened yesterday, but better today. Notes from 24 hrs open, sitting unrefrigerated on the counter overnight. I saw 15% abv, and I coughed...wow. On the nose: ripe plum, sawdust, some va, a touch stewy, i.e., not well-delineated. On the palate: good acidity keeps this fresh, loads of fruit including plum and blood orange, then more hi-toned and slightly glossy, but ok density. I didn't get a huge amount of tannin, but I did get a fair amount of heat. Good winter barbera, I guess, but maybe less food-friendly than I like.

Deep purple color. Perfumed nose. Medium full body. This is a very primary, inky, and powerfully tannic and acidic wine. Flavors of dark cherry, sour cherry, blackberry, and plum. This needs time. 2-3 years before getting anywhere near its drinking window. Then another 10+ years after that. This is one of the more prodigious Barbera''s I've encountered. A classic of the varietal in the making.

Notes after only an hour open but I can already tell the wine is going to be special. Pitch dark purple color with slow, clear legs and a dash of sediment. Profound bouquet of dark cherry and plum, roses and violets, light hints of oak (French, I think), even a little chocolate chip cookie. The palate has grace and elegance, beautiful fruit, and bright acidity with firm and youthful tannins. What a delight this should be in a few more years. 5+12+17+8= 92

plum, black cherry, violets, licorice; medium+ acidity, medium+ tannins, 15% ABV; should have the stuffing to go for awhile; paired with lasagna
