At ristorante Stano in Matera (Italy): Quite the archetype of a Blanc de Blancs champagne! Sweet lemon, if that makes sense, and striking floral notes. On the palate the champagne is light to medium-bodied, fresh, pure, elegantly soft and very refined. The medium finish shows a beautiful balance between sweet but vivid citrus fruit and subtle chalkiness. In a word lovely!

Dinner at Ecco , St Moritz (Ecco , St Moritz): A pretty NV, clear from colour to palate feel, aperitif in style , mineral and firm but lacks a presence that should have been there given the origin. More of a name than a substance wine if we are to be crude but in no way a poor wine, just not that memorable. 90

Superb balance, fresh and complex! Coconut candy, white roses, chamomile, sea salt, yeast, oyster shell, Granny Smith. Very fine mouse. Medium plus flavour intensity, medium plus finish. Really enjoyable!

Family Holidays; 7/28/2023-9/10/2023 (Alicante - España): By the glass. Although some critics consider Perrier-Jouët Blanc de Blancs is only a sparkling aperitif, my particular taste leads me to think that well aged could be delicious coming from almost exclusively grande crus. Aromas of honeysuckle and rotting leaves of weeping willow. Complex and simple at the same time. On the palate is a fresh BdB but with a suave and prolonged volume. To leave it lying down about five years. Worthy of admiration indeed.

Pale gold colour. Clean fine bubbles and generous mouse. Initial notes of mushroom and funky sulfur which is unexpected for this champagne later developing into vegemite (I know!). Front palate holds together with freshness and zest, toast and brioche elements; fresh and medium acidity but dosage hits the middle and late palate throwing things out of balance to a long sweeter finish.

S$100-$150 open theme: Lemon peel, strict acidity that made the wine come across as unbalanced. Not a house that I am familiar with and not inclined to seek more out based on this showing.

I have had three bottles of this, not sure the disgorgement date but purchased about 18 months ago. This is a very decent little BdB, quite fresh, lots of citrus flavour. Fairly sharp acidity but not at all disjointed. I enjoy the style but others who don't always like BdB would probably prefer other options better. 90-91pts. Decent value for €50. Not sure I would pay more than that.

During a Perrier-Jouet dinner. Expressive nose, jumping from the glass wtih citrus oil, short bread, biscuit. the dosage is elevated here but the wine found lots of friends at the table for its succulent style. Good showing. 92-93

Light golden color with small beads. On the nose, aromas of almond, brioche, tangerines, honey, caramel apple. On the palate, it is round, fruit forward, and fresh. Well constructed though a bit uninspired. Held the bottle for a year in cellar to let the wine settle and I strongly recommend it for NV Champagne.

Pale lemon, with fine beads, and starbright. Good balance of medium ripe peach fruits and fresh bread yeast, as well as bright minerals. Mouthwatering acids and elegant, but somewhat short at the back

What strikes me most about this pale straw, lively champagne is its balance and substance. Aromas of bakery, pineapple and lemon. Dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol @12% abv, and medium-medium(+0 body. Palate of tropical fruits, lemon, brioche, earthy yeast notes. Long satisfying finish with sweet touch.

(Disgorged in June 2018, base year 2014, 100% Chardonnay, dosage 8 gr/l) Light yellow colour with an endless stream of very fine bubbles. Minerals, hazelnuts and cigar smoke in an explosion of layers on the lovely youthful nose. Lighter citrus acidity on the palate with with a smooth and creamy mid before a nice and balanced lengthy finish showing raspberry minerals. This is a graceful and elegant cuvée. (Probably best with 2-8 years extra cellaring)

I really like the nose here, brioche, citrus, white flowers. The palate is on the light side though.
