Excellent full bodied Shiraz that is robust in a very good way. The massive fruit flavors are amazing and well balanced. The 16 percent alcohol is unnoticed given the overall structure of this wine. Well done.

despite the super-high alcohol, this is such a fun wine to drink. it is "over the top".

Popular “the Boxer” Shiraz. Up to the popularity. Dark cherries, lots of fruit, and sweet finish. Tastes just like the bouquet. Goes well with marinated meat.

The wine looks purple colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry, black currant (cassis), fig, prune, cherry, plum, mineral, oak and alcohol/hot. The aroma is very big. It tastes like chocolate and alcohol/hot. There is dark fruit and floral flavor. The body is full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes medium-long. The wine has low acidity. It is quite "over the top".
too old to do "the shake". would buy again (bought 3 more to see how it changes as it ages).

For the finale at our Virtual Wine tasting #20 I selected an oldie but goodie. It’s been a few years since I drank any Mollydooker wines. They are a treat but buyer beware- they pack a punch. It all starts with the obligatory Mollydooker Shake, which is an important part of tasting this wine correctly. I had all the participants open the screw cap and pour off a half cup of wine into another wine glass. After re-sealing the bottle we shook vigorously to help release the Nitrogen that these wines are bottled under. Once done I had them pour regular glasses and we compared the smell of the original wine versus the shaken version- a stunning difference in aroma.
The wine is bright purple, opaque and menacing in the glass once you read the label and realize it has 16% ABV. On the nose it is jammy with blackberry, raisin, plum, pepper, coffee, black tea and vanilla. Our group got flavors of coffee, blackberry jam, cinnamon, and someone mentioned ‘grape’. Lithe tannins and medium (-) acidity make for an easy mouthfeel once you clear the alcohol hurdle. A decent finish was enjoyed as I reflected on the length and depth of fruit flavor coming out of this bottle. The body is most def full, the grapes being extracted to the max. This is not a lightweight. I am a little stumped as to what I would pair it with- the richness will overpower most foods- oh well…drink it all by itself. 91 points from me make this $30 wine a 5 star effort that needs to be on your short list. Drink till 2028.
I have never finished a bottle of The Boxer and been disappointed. You always know what your going to get. Is there a better Shiraz for the price? Great QPR.

Dense, bold, extracted but not in a bad way. Lots of black fruits, black cherry, plum, with some pepper, smoke, and anise. Good QPR. Full bodied, would hold up well to a steak.

Punches way above it's price point. Great fruit with a long finish which is expected when you drink a Mollydooker Shiraz. Decanted for 1.5 hours and drank well over the next hour with friends. Case worthy.

Like Denny Green said "they are who we thought they were"! This is exactly what you expect when you buy a Mollydooker wine. Big, brooding, bold, extracted and will punch you in the face. A fun Aussie Shiraz, dark plum, blackberry pepper licorice, w/a chocolate finish. All for $25. Not for the feint of heart....

Holy Molly Dooker. First time I try this producers. A full-bodied wine from Down Under. A massive nose of black berries, black currant, sweet tobacco leaves, brown sugar, cloves and cinnamon. Unfortunately also a heavy amount of alcohol which seams to fade away on the second day. First rating was 3.5 stars, but after trying it the day after, I readjusted the score to 4 stars. Yes this is big, bold, massive and candy-ish. But still pretty darn well-made. Especially without the burning alcohol

Big milk chocolate on the nose, smells creamy and vanilla. Lots of red and purple fruit on palate, delicious vanilla, juicy, good acidity. It's actually very tannic but is so balanced that you don't notice it. Great with pork chops, steak, sausages, pasta alfredo - it carries the 16% alcohol without a problem. This is a hedonistic, luxury wine at a reasonable price - there are comparable Napa wines for $60 to $80.

Solid wine from a great winery. Creamy velvety texture goes oh so well with the black cherry, tea and tobacco flavors. Wife and I tasted it and bought a case. Incredible bottle for under $30.
