Use to be a big fan and still have many in my cellar. David is an amazing person and winemaker, love his work. Met him many times back in the day when cave tours were all there was. Sisters got too woke so left the club for other great wineries. Open a couple Mickey(s) for a gathering tonight of friends. ‘17s so strain out the extra and enjoy !

S: surprising smell... Plum or prune, maybe softly carrmel, maybe black cherry? T: zippy acid and tannin, cherry again, Carmel, long finish. Medium body (maybe medium light for zinfandel) R: Buy again

Two nights ago we enjoyed the brilliant Brown Estate Chiles Valley Vineyard Zinfandel from 2017. The Mickey’s Block Zinfandel from the same vintage is a stark contrast (but in a good way) in that it is a far more muscular take on the varietal.
Black cherry, dark, ripe plum, and blackberries hit the nose followed by the same on the palate with tannins and char. Mouthfeel is dry like a Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with a sour plum/cherry finish that is quite long. Notes were taken between 1 hour and 25 hours from open.

Big nose, silky mouthfeel, soft but present tannin. This is a big wine with concentrated dark fruit and a finish of earth. Very nice!
