The cork pulled out clean and initial tasting after decanting was not great. Very strong eucalyptus bouquet with a sweet not pleasant after taste. After about 40 minutes the wine transformed with a pleasant bouquet and taste but a bit thin.

Decanted. Cork in great nick. Minimal ullage too. Rich. almost sweaty nose of stewed black and blue fruits, cigar box, salty beef/saltbush but ending with a rush of booze. The palate fairly smooth, the blue and black fruits presented and accounted for, matched with some nice savoury notes. That said, there is still a fair amount of cedar oak showing and the wine lacks length but what length there is has a hint of alcohol heat about it. Enjoyable and consumed by my old man and myself in one sitting, but I can't help feeling that I may have missed the boat on this wine a little.

NobleRottersSydney - Christmas Dinner 2015 (360 Bar & Dining, Sydney): {screwcap, 14.5%} Formerly Jacob’s Creek, formerly-formerly Orlando. Now a stand-alone brand. Rich cassis nose; sure there are plenty of currant aromas and flavours, but it’s also got a full-bodied and rich fruitiness to it. Perhaps too much; there’s a raisined quality to the flavours, and plenty of warmth on the finish. Shows some of the signs of the drought vintage; needed less alcohol, although for 12 years it’s travelling well enough. Doubt there’s improvement from further cellaring.

Cooked. Pizza. Cooked lunch. Cooked myself. But most disconcerting was the wine was cooked. Saving grace is I've created space in the cellar for something with more longevity.

Similar to last review. Good depth, blackcurrant, leather. Nice across the whole palate, balanced with a few less horsepower. I did think it had another 5 years but in its drinking window now.

Brought it out for Christmas dinner (Short Ribs Osso Buco style) as the second bottle to be opened. Worried about age - so opened just before serving
Was very fine. Sleek-smooth - almost bright. Improved in the glass. In retrospect, should have (a) given it some breathing time and (b) maybe opened as the primary bottle in a couple of years
Spouse opened the bottle and commented that "the cork looked almost too new"

Deepest red. Lovely depth, blackcurrant, leather, field of hay. Its full, rich and wise. Beautiful across the whole palate, nicely balanced. Great now but will be still hoofing along in 5 years.

- Aromas of blackberry and smokey. It's somewhat balanced and has flavours of blackberry, black currant, burnt toast and sherry with a medium body. Leathery texture.

Really nice fruit bomb Cab, low acidity but it stopped short of being flabby or overblown. No mistake whatsoever about where this was made, but sometimes it fits the bill.

Rich purple in the glass this wine displays aromas of roasted nuts, blackcurrant and cream. The palate is dense and deep. Spice, vanilla and rubber characters all jump out. Good finish. Pleasant.

Nice noise with dark fruit, a bit of cedar, some green notes with a bit of a burn. Good mouthfeel with cherry, cassis, but green and drying tannins but the 14.5% alcohol is well hidden by some fresh acidity. Balanced, nicely restrained, not overly oaked. I like it.

Impenetrable black colour. Super-ripe, raisin fruit aromas. Cabernet? Rich ripe warm texture, moderate oak, strong tannins. It’s a mouthful, that’s for sure. Needs time to settle down. I wonder if it’s trying to be more than it is?

In wonderful condition. Chocolate and tangy astringency but all very calm. Heavy crumbly tannin underpins. At its peak.

I know jatkinso loves this aged wine but I'm not so sure. Would have been better a few days ago. Maybe years.

Minty black plums and black currants. A bit spicy and kinda controlled for being a hot vintage.
