  • Pours a beautiful deep red/purple hue…
(See note on Santa Duc for comparison)
Packs a flavor wallop of berries, herbs, earthiness,
with excellent structure and enough acidity and tannin to lead to a persistent finish that begs you to come back for more… the heat of alcohol finish has diminished quite a bit though it’s still a tad there..
Better today than 2 years ago.. excellent !!

  • Popped and poured. Immediately has intense and pleasant aroma. Palate is complex and well integrated. Texture is nice and the wine has a good finish. Saved some for next day and oxidation was noticeable. Probably will not improve with age.

  • I expected this to be massive and maybe too oaky at this stage, but it was very nice.

Took about two hours for the complexity to reveal itself. Really satisfying texture in the mouth, especially mid palate.

Fresh red fruit jam (raspberry, maybe strawberry), touch of cassis liqueur, dark chocolate, all the southern French herbs.

It's a big wine but at no point does it feel like it was stretched, forced, or manipulated to be so. It just fills large shoes, so pair and select accordingly for the weather and your feel and your state of mind. Also functions well as a meditative wine, if you're just doing one glass.

For the price and the scores I was prepared to be hyper judgemental about it, but it really disarmed me.

  • PNP….So with that caveat…
Gorgeous purple hue…..nose is licorice, touch oak, cassis, spice…
Tongue is wonderful note of fresh red/blue fruit, spice, touch earth,
with good lift of acidity on a pretty hot finish….
Only opened to make room in the cooler for other wines….needs plenty of cellar time and could really become an excellent wine….
Only true detractor is the hot finish…
Will try and update over next few days with air time….
Smoothed out with better fruit on 3rd day…
Had against a 2016 Pegau Which by comparison was a bit more masculine and a touch of earthy barnyard…

  • Cassis and herbs on the nose. Licorice notes. Palate is full octane. Strong fruit, underlying tension, ends hot.

  • Obviously young but still very enjoyable after a 2 hour slow-ox. Try again in 4-5 years.

  • Incense, smoke, a touch of wood, wet earth and cherries comes through in the nose. On the palate, the wine is plush, round and polished with a spicy edge to the lifted, cherries in the finish. The wine was produced from a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 5% Syrah and 5% Vaccarese.
