Really enyoable. Well balanced fruit and spices, with some tar and melting. Good balance and length; on the first day the tannin was too dominant, but on the second day it was way better. Give it a lot of air, if you want to try it at this early stage.

Medium+ nose intensity with notes with mushroom, truffle, red fruits, red cherries. Medium+ acidity and high tannin. Still youthful. Decanted 3 hours. Still youthful. Need a lot of decanting if you want to drink now.

Aerated to decanter one hour. Really too young, but the sweetly scented, ripe red fruits are already showing a good degree of appeal, if not developed complexity. Fine, elegant, and structured, be sure to stash this one at the back of the cellar. <HOLD> Based on its full potential, of course it's highly recommended
Flickinger Customer Appreciation Tasting (Casino Club - Chicago IL): Walk around tasting. Wow! Red cherry and berry aromas with dried roses, anise, fresh thyme and clove. Similar start on palate with robust red fruits again. Firm middle is followed by a long, elegant finish, even also slightly grippy for now. 95+ point potential, 2025 forward.

Flickinger Customer Appreciation Tasting (Casino Club): A wow wine in the making with so much more stuffing and intensity than the very good 2015 tasted immediately prior. Towering and layered nose of pure red cherries, with florals and spice. Big, rich fruit with plenty of structure beneath. This is still open and approachable but it will undoubtedly shut down soon and be ready in 15-20 years. 95+

100% Nebbiolo from 22 hectares of vineyard spread over 14 different vineyards. The vines are on average 40 years old. The grapes from the 14 vineyards are vinified separately. After 12 months, the wine from the different vineyards is blended together and ripens further on larger oak barrels in new 12 months before bottling.
Tight, yet seductive aromas with fabulous roses, concentrated red berries, white pepper, salts, leather and light tar. The aroma image will only evolve in the years to come.
Pretty full-bodied wine with the perfect balance between showing off yet being close to silk. Lovely fruit picture of cherries, raspberries, leather, licorice and good green spices. Solid, yet so seamless tannins. Here's a lot wrapped up that will unfold over time. This is a wine that can withstand at least 20 years. This reminds me of the superb 2001 vintage and here the potential sky high. 94 points. For now. (96P)

Decanter Gaja Masterclass - 30 Years of Legendary wine making presented by Gaia Gaja (Decanter FWE, The Landmark hotel, London): Light in color, soft for the look to the nose to the palate albeit the palate has a few harsh edges at this stage. Perfumed, floral , strawberry, red acidic fruits as Gaia Gaja described them. Lots of berries on the palate, soft but with firm acidity and a touch of harshness. Pretty long finish. No real feel of oak, pure and elegant (much like all their 2016s ). A touch too young to rate and maybe could have used some more fruit at this stage. Hopefully time will soften that side. 14 vineyards go into the blend, 2016 was a vintage of beautiful ripeness for GG.

Light red color - very young, clean and precise. Lots of harsh tannins. Ripe strawberries, young cherries and marzipan. Way too young and closed down in the moment for my palate. Don’t touch this within the next 6 years. (Tasted at Decanter Fine Wine Encounter 2019 Masterclass.)

Weightless, charming red fruits, roses, with it's core showing all tar and dried flowers. It's streamlined and direct but needs time at this point to develop.

Had it at Centro Storico in Serralunga d'Alba with white truffles on fried egg, and later also Agnolotti with sage and butter along with a Barolo from Monforte cru. The barbaresco is extremely balanced in acidity and the silky tannins. Was expecting more fruit, it had small berries, mint and some tobacco in the palette.
Very good wine, fun to try.

Aromas are medium- intensity (closed) but has a depth and complexity I'm not seeming to delve into at the moment of tasting. Mainly marked by a heavy spiciness: licorice, cloves, fennel, dried orange, - apricots and fresh cherry.
Palate shows where the money and quality is at. Very balanced and elegant (even now!) making a wonderful mouth feel.
Medium+ acidity, high (fine grained and silky) tannins, medium - body, medium+ alcohol. Ends with a medium+ finish.

The 2016 Barbaresco, bottled only two weeks prior to tasting, was drop dead gorgeous, wonderfully exotic, and remarkably pretty. The bouquet at this time comes and goes, sometimes an intense mix of spicy florals, deep cherry, dusty spice and woodland earth tones, and then suddenly withdrawn, showing roses, sweet herbs, strawberry and a hint of animal musk. On the palate, I found a feminine expression, yet silky and refined, as mineral-encased tart cherry saturated the senses, along with savory spice and inner floral tones. It’s structured showed most on the finish, as tannins mounted with each sip, clenching the senses, in spite of it all, tart cherries and spice tones lingered on. I’m looking forward to tasting this again after some time in bottle, but today it’s beautiful.

2nd round after Imperial GWC!: This is still too young IMO, but the foundations are there. I would give this at least 3 - 5 more years. Hold

Ljusröd färg
Äggfisigt, rödbärigt, röda vinbär, kola, floral, jordgubbar efterhand
Torrt, stramt, tanninrikt, en viss hetta, väldigt bra längd
Väldigt ungt i dagsläget. Det här vinet kommer säkerligen bli ett toppenvin men idag har det en bit kvar och en tuff konkurrens.
