  • Slightly unrefined, but not uncouth - a nice, slightly funky Beaujolais that the cool kids who prefer PetNat to Champagne will love. Visually, it's misty from fine sediment. Explosive nose that is straight-up cherry candy; it's fresh, it's fruity, it's fun. A little unusual, a little green, but begs you to taste. Over time, earthy aromas and floral notes chime in. Palate rewards with something slightly more serious than the nose. It's balanced and still fruit forward, but there's some savory herbs in the mix. There is still ample acidity and a touch of tannic structure for further aging. Medium force finish with good length. Feels significantly more substantial in weight and flavor density than your typical Brouilly. Overall, a pleasant experience that will only offend a few people... ;) *Alex Foillard is the son of the well-known Morgon producer, Jean Foillard. After his education and wine-making internships, at the age of 24, Alex purchased about a hectare in Brouilly and a hectare in Cote de Brouilly. 2016 was his first official vintage, so this 2017 is pretty early in his game. *I'd say Alex follows his father's natural wine-making techniques: whole cluster, natural yeasts, no additives, no filtration, etc.

  • Lovely mineral savory dark fruit juice. No VA or brett, just lean and mean. Wish I had more

  • Fresher than last bottle, although there is some VA. Tastes of the grape.

  • Medium red. Nose is bright, VA, red berry fruit. I suspect this is low sulphur since it is punchy, a little sharp. Lots of fruit and almost invisible tannin.

  • Fruit character on the nose is quite complex, forest fruits, coulis, dried raspberry, violets. Intriguing; intense entry in the mouth, very perfumed style, very particular. Some darker fruit on the finish, an exaggerated fruit bomb style of Beaujolais. Pushed to the limit yet retains some freshness.

  • This really is a terrific value. More open than the cote de brouilly at this point from the same vintage and producer, raspberries, cherries and a beautiful perfume. Balanced acidity, refreshing, and a wine that begs to be drunk. Slight lactic note at times, but nothing that detracts from the overall enjoyment.

  • Pop and pour. Now remnants of bottle left 7h after being open. Expressive aromas of violets, raspberries, blackberries, bubblegum, herbs and bark. Palate mirrors the aromas with a lively, joyous mouthfeel with mild tannins on midpalate. Excellent acids and a light to medium bodied frame. This is joy in a glass and just makes me happy. 90+

  • Bellevue wine tasting club in Singapore. medium purple Color. Very fruity nose, some bubble gum. Med+ acidity, full body, high alcohol, Med body, Med- finish, Med tannins. Loses the fruity nose quite quickly, some green and bitter taste (apparently he does not destem), a bit too hot as quite high in alcohol, a bit of pepper. Nothing special and a bit misleading.
