Château La Cabanne's 2018 iteration is an opaque ruby blend of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. Intensely aromatic and flavorful, it delivers a package of cassis, kirsch, violets, Asian spices and bramble leaves. Medium-to-full-bodied, freshly acidic, proportionately oaked and without any heat from its 14.5% alcohol, it buttresses its flavors with abundant fine-grained tannins and is layered in the middle. Long and silky-textured on the back end, it is a delight to drink at this early stage. Given its impressive structure, I have to assume that this wine will shut down in the near future, with an undetermined "awakening" interval. As such, my projected drinking window for this wine is very speculative. This particular bottle was Vinturi-decanted and was not assessed until it had been in decanter for more than four hours. Give it as much air as your patience allows. Drink 2025-2043.

Solid Bordeaux, rather modern, and very light handed for a 2018 Pomerol. This needs about 5 years before being touched. Its not very giving now, and just coiled up. HOLD_

Drank blind from .375 last week with the Xtremos, and I don't remember everything about this wine--tho I did prefer the '18 Kirwan matched vs this one. Nose of sweet fruit, the wine looked older than it was. Mostly sweet black fruit, and plenty of it. The wine did not come off as hot as 14.5% might suggest.

The flowers, truffle and dark cocoa notes show nicely on the nose. Silky, soft and loaded with ripe, juicy, fresh, sweet, earthy plums and freshness on the palate, give this a few years in the cellar and enjoy it over the following 15 years or more with ease.

Richly colored, the wine pops from the nose with flowers, cocoa, thyme and red fruits. Soft, polished, fruity and silky, this is a solid wine from La Cabanne. 91-93 Pts

Tasted at TW with the winemaker. Ripe, bigger and bolder fruit than the '14 or '16, more body too.
