Really like this one. Nice bouquet, warm and toasty on the palette, nice warm finish. Tannins ease off with some air. Great value for this bottle - better than more $$ priorats IMO.

6/7/2022 * Not quite sure what the praise is all about. Pleasant violet nose. Some dark fruit and slight minerality covered up by the tannins. Became softer with time But all in all this one was a very generic effort to me. * * 12/29/2022 & 12/30/2022 * Note : * * After consuming the 2nd of my 3 bottles, I like the bouquet more than the hot tannic lifeless palate . The high 15% alcohol was more pronounced on day 2 creating a disjointed hodgepodge with a short finish. More time in the cellar will not remedy the imbalance. Modest price . No plans to re-stock.
A little more than a year since last trying this wine. Medium ruby color. A complex bouquet with notes of raspberry, dark plum, cured meat, minerality, pie crust and dried herbs. Lush satin texture, medium bodied, with bright red and black fruit on the palate and a frame of firm, sinewy tannins.

Maybe my 1st Priorat, very nice red and good QPR for $22. Reminds me of GSMs from across the Pyrenees in the Rhone valley. Black Slate is apparently a project between the US importer and the winery.

lot of dark fruit on the front, pretty full bodied. did not decant but would do so next time to let it even out a bit. decent bottle but probably should sit for a couple more years.

Continues to outpunch its weight class. Dusty cacao on the nose. Agree with dark cherry and flat cola. Although not exceptional this stood up against Priorats triple its price. I suspect it would destroy a blind tasting.

This was just soft, smooth and all-around delicious. Sweet, rich aroma of dark red fruit, and a velvety mouth feel. As with so many other Spanish wines that I've enjoyed over the years, this hit well above its weight class in this price point, and will definitely be revisiting this again in future (or past) vintages and vineyards. Fantastic, deep and layered red that won't hurt your wallet.

Extremely deep ruby in color. Plum, cherry, licorice, smoke, cinnamon, dusty stone and sanding sugar, and on a deep enough inhale a hint of sulphur.. Plum, cinnamon, and alcoholic heat on the palate. Medium acidity, chewy tannins, and dry. Plum, graphite, and a bit of pepperiness (though that might be alcoholic heat) on a long finish.

Is this a grenache? It's so rich, not as high-tone as I usually think when I think of grenache. There's great dark fuit and dusty, wet rock aromas here, and some serious tannin/acid - which means I'll set the others down for a spell. But you could also enjoy this right now with food that will enhance and smooth out the aforementioned tannins and acid. So get to it!

Dusty, viscous, rich. Remarkable spice for an unoaked Priorat, and with just enough llocorella twang to be a proper Priorat without being harsh. Great value on top of it all. Two thumbs up.

Have enjoyed this in prior vintages, but nothing like this 2017 vintage! A blend of Garnatxa, Carinenya and small amouts of Cabernet Sauvignon from vines on steep rocky hillsides at 300'-500' elevation near the village of Porrera in Priorat. Aged for 12m in neutral barrels. Gave just 1h of air.
Dramatic deep ruby color, almost black in the center. Very earthy on the nose, with aromas of blackberry, cherry, pepper, leather, pie crust, clove and eucalyptus. Satin texture, with bright, clean flavors of juicy red fruit on entry, density throughout and a lingering finish that's spicy and peppery. Firm chalky tannins support the pronounced fruit and give it a significant structured feeling.
Not only could I probably have rated this higher right now, I think there's significant potential for extra quality to emerge as the tannins resolve and the wine rounds out.

Constantly over-delivers for the price point. Concentrated and brawny, but with enough acidity to keep it from being too heavy.

Floral, forest floor aromas, sweet and fresh aroma
Sweet sweet sweet, dark fruit, concentrated, heavy extraction? Pencil lead or flat cola, mild tannins and enough acidity
Ripe strawberry on last glass

Very good quality wine, with lots of fruit as other reviewers have suggested. Lacked some complexity for me, and ok qpr at $20++

Decent priorat but not amazing. Structured, dark fruit, good QPR. The last of too many wines that night so hard to rate, but would try again.
