  • Medium lemon in the glass. Warm tropical fruit bouquet with nothing heavy or over the top. More of a Burg nose if anything. Slight hints of florals and lees in the background. Plump in the mouth, with a great balance of acidity and alcohol. Medium finish though, lacking a bit of depth. I'm assuming that this was polished in the succeeding vintage, but nonetheless, this remains one of the more serious Italian Chardonnays. Well done.

  • PnP, tasted side by side with the 2018, which had a slight edge. I'm consistently a fan of the textural prowess this wine manages, which is another way of saying the balance of acids and fruits is always spot on. In this vintage, the wine seems a little less cohesive, less focused, even if it proved an excellent partner to food, it was slightly less good on its own. But that's true of most (all?) Italian wines, I suppose. Good, but the 2018 won by two lengths: more potential, more focus and breadth. For my palate, anyway. Drink now and the next 4-5 years. At 20Euro, I'd buy it again. recommended
