I get the tight - but not the full bodied. Yes, some structure but closed down. I agree that cellaring is the call. Think I was premature in pulling this cork.

Great wine, more Bordeaux in style. Graphite, blackberry, a floral component, black raspberry and some plum. Structurally impressive wine on the palate. Drinking very well now, and will easily hold up for 5- 10 year, maybe more.

This was fantastic tonight and was served from magnum at a family dinner party for ten people featuring chargrilled NY strips, baked potatoes, sautéed mushrooms, Brussels sprout casserole, and garden salad. Very approachable at six years. Great complement to the food; the wine’s structure and black fruits balanced the salty, charred meat. I’ve only had limited experience with this highly reputable producer, but in both cases, the experience has been outstanding.

Bottle on 7th shelf tasted side by side with Revelry 2017 Cabernet on 9/18/21 using the Coravin, 2/3rds of the bottle left. Very refined next to Revelry, Revelry showing more elbows on the taste.

I was disappointed. The nose, the mouth feel, it just wasn’t right, not as robust as I expect from Betz. At 6 years, it might still be too young. I’ll wait a few years on the other bottles...

Better on night two. Nice dark fruit, savory and dried fruit tones, no jam/flab. Still distinctly new world, but much more WA than Napa.
