Another solid offering from Sheridan in 2016 - the nose was the strength here, showcasing smoky and vanilla-laden notes of blueberry melded with roasted meats, hickory, tar, and with time, coffee and cocoa been. The nose remained quite open throughout the evening (even on day two). It was tight and tannic in the mouth at first, which prompted us to decant. It mellowed out at the 2-3 hour mark to reveal a full-bodied, super sauve, and ultra-smooth textured package of earthy, though primary, dark fruits, herbs, and lasting notes vanilla on the finish. It needs time to unwind and gain complexity in the mouth, but promises to be something potentially extraordinary in the coming years. 94+
