  • Lots of blueberry pie filling on the nose. Feels more Cabernet heavy than merlot heavy. I prefer the 2016 by a good bit. This has nice tannic structure, but is not astringent or over-bearing as I feared after reading other reviews before opening. Plenty to clean the tongue with a rich cut of meat. Acidity is good. Flavor palate is decidedly Napa. Nothing extraordinary here but well executed. An enjoyable wine that is good but not exceptional.

This may improve in coming years but I don’t see this climbing much beyond current score.

  • Very young. Wait, or decant for a 2-3 hours. Starts of quite tight but opens after decanting. Bold and velvety with notes of leather, chocolate, and dark fruits. Quite nice.
