30 min double decant to start. First glass was too much—melted milk chocolate and blueberries, fig, incense and blackberries but none of it in a good way. Huge, big, not sure I can handle these anymore. 15.7 AC on the bottle and it shows. Tried drinking over two hours and poured 90% of the bottle down the drain over that time. Not corked, maybe cooked.
One more bottle left. Will reserve judgment and scoring on this bottle.

Beautiful wine. 2 hr decant, vivid purple/magenta. Rich red and dark fruits on the nose, figs, dazzling sweet spices, tobacco leaf and violets. Velvety smooth palate adds crunchy leaves, white mushrooms, crushed rocks and slight earthiness. This is so lush but so much balance. Amazing!

This wine was a big disappointment. In spite of its ratings it is flat, very singular, no muscle, no fruit and a major disappointment in spite of Herold's indisputable winemaking talents. I felt like I bit into an old saddle. Decanted for hours with no help. 90 point is generous.

Napa April 2019; 4/6/2019-4/9/2019 (Napa, CA): Wonderful, best wine of the mark herold can lineup and that’s saying a lot. Red and dark fruit that is singing, lush. If you like fruit this is the stuff.

This had to be an off bottle.

Cherry notes, very classic Napa on the bolder, riper side but still in great balance and not overdone by any means. Very good.
