Bright red cherry and berry throughout, taut and energetic, even if slightly angular right now. Lots here with sneaky power. Faint hint of sweet spice that needs to mellow, better 2024 forward.

Great winemaker but this has too much cherry candy in the attack for me and not as much of the earthier finishing notes that I prefer in PNs. But it does remind me of the incredible variety of pinots.

aromatic with scents of rose hips, dried cherries and forest pine, ethereal and dry, attacks with lush flavors of strawberry and cherry then moves into a dried cherry, cola, hibiscus tea and stone laced palate, distinctive, balancing acidity carries it along, this will age well, nice with mushroom gravy pork chops

Au Bon Climat Tasting Room: Aromas and notes of rich fig & red plum, autumn foliage, allspice & clove, crushed stone. Silky and elegant expression with lifted fruit, nice intensity and complexity along a seamless core, with fine structure and length.

Very pale - weak colour; despite low key proper PN fruit, earthy; red fruits, bright, forward, mid-weight. Finishes with aplomb, graceful. Extended. Drink now & next 5 years.

Revisting ABC: Tasted alongside 2016 Pinot Noir Knox Alexander and 2016 Pinot Noir “Isabelle.” A bit less varietally muted than the whites in general... this wine had reserved cherry and cranberry pinot fruit that was in balance with baking spice aromas from new oak. on the palate high acids, moderate midpalate flesh, very firm oak tannins and low alcohol to finish.

Au Bon Climat - Tasting Room: From 75cl, opened 1 day previously. Less bright and clear in colour than the La Bauge, the scent too is darker and more promising. Medium-bodied entry, dark raspberry/loganberry fruit, just a hint of cherry; the mid-palate is still very tight, even tannic, but will surely develop a lot more depth with time; really dry finish. Hard for me to rate today as it tastes so much thinner now than it will turn out to be in 5-10 years. $50 at cellar door. 91P(?)

No formal notes. Nice balance of Cali fruit with cool climate and stemmy flavors.
