First Maury. Garnet with amber at the edges, pronounced aromas and flavors, nose of cacao, nuts and dried fruits, palate is medium sweet, constant comment tea notes, orange pith, cinnamon, dried apricots, apple cider, figs, chocolate, nuts, brown sugar, acidity is medium +, body medium, finish long and lingering. Plenty of life still evolving in the bottle.
Perfect ending to a family birthday celebration, enjoyed with German Chocolate Cake. Displays a clear garnet color, impressive at 40+ years. Medium body and high alcohol, almost port like. Aromas and flavors are quite complex and layered: roasted pecans and nuts, dried cherries, cooked raspberries, reduced brown sugar, fruit cake, old spice box, and decaying leaves. Acidity balances the fruit providing harmony and a medium finish. Very, very nice. This is drinking very well and should continue to do so for many years to come.

Bottled for Les Amis in a giant glass bauble. Simple but delicious - figs, dates, mahogany, lovely fresh lemony balance. Somewhere in between an oxidative Amontillado and a twany port, maybe with a touch of Madeira, this was yummy.

Medium to dark garnet colour, with an amber-coloured rim. Raisins, dried fruit, fruit in rum, green olive, bitter coffee, some chocolate and spices, with good length. Pronounced acidity and black tea leaf-like dryness. Disjointed, with a flabby and bitter-sweet finish. Disappointing.

Very impressive at 35+ years. Orange peel, "constant comment" tea, sweet spice and a touch of secondary. Not overly sweet as the sweetness is offset by acidity.

Tasting at Le Cheri (Le Cheri, Philadelphia): strawberry, red cherry, red plum with some interesting herbal/tobacco notes on the finish. a bit thin. unbelievable how bright the fruit is on this given the 37 years of age. very different than my notes from the last bottle. a great end to the night.

Was drunk with chocolate dessert... great match! Medium weight and complexity, aromas chocolate, tobacco and toffee. Good acidity to balance the sweetness. Lovely way to finish a meal!

This seemed a weak version of this wine; I think it is definitely in decline. Some nice notes of nuts and dried fruit, but lean with no power on the palate.

Grenache!: Absolutely stunning conclusion to the Grenache tasting. This has a wow nose! Smoke, chocolate, tobacco and cedar are prominent, with underlying toffee, caramel and butterscotch. Really dynamic, deep and dark brown color. Some dark fruits hiding in there as well. This was incredibly smooth on the palate with the smoke, chocolate and caramel working in perfect harmony. Not a blemish along the way. Super complexity and thickness. The finish falls off a bit in the end, but this is an absolutely wonderful effort. Stacking this up against a vintage Port would be an interesting tasting.

Nose of wallnut, torrefaction, dried fruits sweet spices, coffee and tobacco. Like a lighter, fresher version of Tawny Port.

Truffle & Chateauneuf du Pape hunting in Provence; 11/7/2013-11/10/2013 (Crillon Le Brave): Party in a way with a lot of hot climate and dry red fruits, ripe sark fruits and with a sweet core. A touch too hot and alcoholic which spoils the complexity side. Okish but not special 86

Very dried fruits on the nose, not nearly as rich; very complex palate but not nearly so sweet, dry on the finish.
