Very pretty nose, strawberry earth mint and spice. Gorgeous sweet strawberry compote on the palate, nice fresh finish. Fairly light, not a long-term keeper but delicious.

No theme night: Popped and poured, new-world aromas of dark cherry fruit that became earthier with air, so some stem inclusion I think. Liked this more a couple more hours in when it became more savoury, good freshness and not too heavy or plodding like some other CA pinots.

Deep ruby red, clear. Round and harmonious nose with spices, cherry compote, leather, and juice. Juicy but at the same time tight. Good concentration. Raspberry syrup, leather, red apples, a little cold potato. Medium length. Good wine from the recently deceased Jim Clendenen

One of these days I'll try one of these with some real age. Pop qnd pour, notes from 3 hrs open. On the nose: stems, strawberry leaf, wild strawberry. On the palate: fantastic acidity, good density, soft leather. blackberry, wild strawberry, and very finely grained tannin on the finish. Always a lovely wine. Jim Clendenen will be missed...

A beautiful bottle of Pinot Noir from @aubonclimat and a great representation of Santa Barbara. Au Bon Climat “La Bauge Au-Dessus” 2016 while young is drinking deliciously. Showing fresh strawberries, raspberries, a touch of vanilla, cedar spice, and damp earth. The real highlight is the balance and structure of this wine promising a bright future with more time in the cellar.

Au Bon Climat Tasting Room: Notes of cranberry & fig, toasty cedar, paprika, clove & lavender. Richness to the texture with expressive fruit and depth. Dense core, bright & lifted, with round and smooth tannins, and a dry juicy finish.

Drank at the tasting room in downtown SB in memory of Jim Clendenen.
Underripe strawberries and raspberries, a lot of spice notes, especially black pepper. Dirt/earth and tobacco. Medium + bodied, pretty close to full. Some acid on it and medium tannin. This wine is great right now AND it will benefit from further aging.

Tasting at Au-Bon Climat: Spice-driven fig fruit on the nose, Nice fruit expression on the palate, accented with classic SMV floral spice, most notably tea and clove. Angular structure, a bit courser tannins compared to the reserves, but with very nice flavor development.

Au Bon Climat - Tasting Room: From 75cl, opened 1 day previously. Bright, luminescent, red-cherry colour. Quite closed aromatically, some tight bright dark cherry gets through; light-bodied entry with red cherry fruit and lively acid balance linear to mid-palate; short, tight, inexpressive finish. This needs a couple of years to open up, will never be a blockbuster, but should make excellent easy drinking 2022-2027. $35 at cellar door seems a very fair price. 89-90P

Very light and clear in colour. Cranberry, strawberry and cherry with a subtle hint of vanilla. No real oak to speak of. A delicious tipple.

Ikke dekantert. Pen dag 1, bedre dag 2 etter pumping og kjøleskap. Klart bedre enn standard-utgaven.
