  • Full garnet color, with clarity. Oxidative nose, notes of braised cherry, leather, smoked licorice, candied plums, root spices and hints of vanilla. Succulent and rich fruit on the palate, with floral and spice notes supporting. Medium-to-full body, moderate acid and round juicy tannins.

  • Ripe red fruit, winter berry, hints of clove / allspice, stones, and maybe the slightest bit of fresh leather coming in. A touch spicier on the open of the palate with a decent sense of freshness and openness. It does feel a bit lacking in structure and depth though. Good for a weeknight, relatively versatile.

  • Quite fruity, relatively restrained oak, and leaning modern. Solid depth of flavor. Well structured. Drink over the next few years.

  • Great compliment with spicy food. Pepper notes, cedar on the nose. Good acidity, not too dry with food. Some vanilla at the finish.

  • Too young but opened anyway. It opened and improved substantially over a few hours. Decent fruit - cherry, some damson, dark fruit stones. Good body but a bit young to be quite as smooth as an older Lan Reserva usually is. Quite fresh, with integrated tannins and good acidity. A good partner to roast sirloin - it was much better with food when the acidity softened. Good value on offer at the Co-op in UK but the shelves are being filled up with the 2015 vintage already. This vintage has just been awarded 92 points by Joanna Simon in Decanter. I think that is a little optimistic but I'll try this again after a day.
Next day it was richer and deeper with good balance. Noticeable acidity on the end taste but that is fine with food (and it was very good with beef). Well worth cellaring for the future, though. 89+
